We are going to WDW may 30th - June 6th. we are staying on site, is there any reason we need a rental car? is it worth it? I just don't want to be stck somewhere.

Although you will get mixed reviews on Disney transportation, I have no complaints.

The bus drivers know where they are going, you don't have to stress over which lane to be in where to turn etc. I presonally find the roads to be quite confusing.

Besides the point is to relax, so sit back, relax, and leave the driving to them!

The momorail is a nice ride, DD had a nice nap while DH and I rode the loop!

Water taxi's/ferries are relaxing.

Oh well, No complaints here!

I just use Disney transportation when staying on-site and have never had any issues. I just can't see paying $150+ a week for a car to sit in the parking lot for most of the week on the chance I may need it. Last trip I ended up taking a cab from our resort to another to make a dinner reservation when I cut time a bit short. It was still less expensive than renting a car for the week.

I too would suggest doing without the rental car and if you get in a bind or in a hurry just find a taxi.

Well, we went in Sep 08 for Free Dining and everyone said the same thing about Disney transportation...not too long of a wait...well, we had the worst experiences...my 8yo dd fell asleep on the concrete waiting for a bus...my dh had the worst time trying to get the stroller ready and on the bus and not getting in anyone's way, more than a few times we got separated from our dd's and had to almost yell to let them know where to wait for us off the bus...this time we are going in the end of June and it should be really busy...not willing to risk any of that and with the heat of FLa...so we are renting a car and yes it is $149 out of pocket expense, but we saved with a stroller swap and we saved with a photopass share..and we saved with the book 4 get 3 deal...we will have to wait to see if we feel it's worth it, but I am pretty confident...

Well I can't say that I have the most informed opinion because I have never used the Disney transportation except to use the boat for MK when we stayed at WL. However, we have rented a car each trip and can't see doing it any other way. I love just walking right out to my car after spending time at the parks and going at my leisure . . . no waiting, no crowds, no fuss! We also found it useful for getting around to different dining places around WDW . . . for example, when we made ressies for HoopDeDoo at Ft. Wilderness, the agent advised giving ourselves 1.5 hours to get there!! I asked why and she explained that it could take that long on the busses. When I said that we would have a car, she said we'd only need 15 minutes then! It's certainly not a necessity by any means, but for us it's worth it!
