Rental car wait

Can anyone tell me how long a wait it usually is for a rental car? This will be our first time renting a car at Disney and I have no idea how long it should take. Arriving 11:30 am on 1/09/05 and have a ressie with both Alamo and Budget that are only 5 dollars apart. Should I just hold onto both and get in the shortest line? Any help would be appreciated.

If I am remembering correctly, with either of those rental companies you get off your flight grab your bags and then have to use their courtesy phone so they can tell you where to hop on one of their busses and they take you over to their lot and THEN you wait in line to get your car. Like I said I'm not 100% sure so you might want to check that for sure.

This is not correct for either of these two companies. Both are at the airport -- no bus needed.

I've never had to bother with the lines at MCO because I rent from Avis and use their Preferred service. Just go over to the garage, show them my license and get the keys.

you might want to check out mousesavers.com and get some wonderful advice about how to use National Emerald, that way you could avoid the lines.

I would give up one of your reservations so someone else has a chance to get a good rate.

I think it depends on your flight arrival and how many people are using the car rental company.

In the times that we have used Alamo, the wait can be long once you get to the counter. I was particularly disappointed with our August trip with Alamo - the wait at the counter took almost 1/2 hour.

FWIW, We were really impressed with National on our last trip. Total time in line and at the rental counter took less than 5 minutes. Alamo has always taken longer - don't know why.

Alamo tends to have a longer line that Budget, but that's not always the case. The longest we have waited is over 45 minutes with Alamo (late night), but on our last two trips their counter was almost deserted around 7 p.m. With Budget, waits have ranged from non-existent to 15 minutes.
