Rental Car vs. Towncar or Taxi

I will be going to Disneyworld for a week and staying at the Dolphin. There may be 1 or 2 days that we might like to go elsewhere so a rental car would be nice, but I have heard that there is an extra charge per day for parking the rental car. Is this true and if so how much? It would be nice to have the car but if its just a big hassle and expensive I might just go with getting transportation to and from the airport.

What do most people do? Can people share experiences with not knowing which to choose and with what they ultimately went with?

Personally we have not rented at car in many years since we stay within WDW during our stay. You might want to rent a car for a day or two since you can do this from the Swan or Dolphin (not sure which one has the car rental on site).
As far as I know the only parking fee is if you use valet parking unless it is different at the Swan/Dolphin. I am sure Disney gives free regular parking to all resort guests unless they choose to valet park.
We used Prestige Town cars in June and they were great. Their price was lower than a lot and the service was perfect. We had a free grocery stop and we loaded up on water, soda and some snacks.
Check out their web page at (I think) prestigetowncars.com......or you can try tiffanytowncars.com. They merged a couple of months ago.
Also, I should add that you are staying in a great area. The Epcot resort area is really nice with great restaurants and shops all over. Check out the menus on allearsnet.com and look at the Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk, and Beach and Yacht clubs. The ease of getting to both the Disney Studios and Epcot from this area makes it all the more special. You can walk or boat over to either park.
Enjoy your trip!

Thank you. I think your idea of taking a taxi or towncar and then renting a car for a day or so if we want to go somewhere else sounds good. Much better than paying for a whole week when we won't use it nearly that much. I will check out the Towncar service you mentioned, does the price you quoted include both the trip from the airport to the hotel AND the hotel to the airport?
