We always use a towncar service but this year we are renting a car for the first time...I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the rental car tipping ettiqute is...thanks so much

Gee, I never thought about that. I am preferred with Hertz so I just walk to my car. No one helps me so I don't think any tip is required anywhere.

Where were you thinking you needed to tip? Because unless someone does something extra for you I don't think a tip is required when renting a car.

I agree with you, tipping for a rental car is not necessary unless the guy/girl walking around does something nice for you.

It all depends on what the employe does for you.

We had rented from Avis last week at Port Canaveral. The attendant brought our car around from the back of the lot, loaded our baggage into the trunk and made sure that the air conditioner had cooled the interior down before he handed the car over to us. I'd say that service like that deserves a tip and he got one.

At MCO, where we usually rent from National and use the EA, I feel there is no need to tip anyone because the only employe we encounter is the one in the "toll booth" who completes your rental agreement and opens the gate so you can leave.
