So, what is a good price for a rental car for 12 days?

Last year we went for 8 days and had what I thought was a good rate of $120. Now I can't find anything below $368. Is this typical?

Where can I get something closer to $200?

My dates are 12/2 to 12/12/11. I have a midsize booked with Alamo picking up at the airport and returning to the Dolphin. BJ's travel paper coupon
ad8z21sdb $138.10 total with fees and taxes for 10 days rental.

What dates, what size?

We are going 10/19 (late arrival around 10:00 pm) through 10/31 (afternoon departure ~4:00).

We typically get a mid-size or maybe a standard-size car. One time we found a standard SUV for less than the standard car and so we chose that. Compacts don't work for us, but it really doesn't matter as long as four adults and luggage fit.

I've been looking at carrentalsavers . com a few times a week for the last 2 months or so and that site has been showing the best prices for our up coming trip. I just ran your dates and ouch, compacts starting at 4hung and up.

Find the Oct car rental thread here and chase the recommendations of the folks who have found good deals there.

Try the site I mentioned above a few times over the next few days, you might get lucky.

I know - Ouch! It is as if those dates are taboo or something. There must be something going on that I am not aware of. I will check with the website you provided over the next few days and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip ... and the luck.

We belong to BJs Club, where did you get the travel coupon? Are they in the monthly book or did you go to the customer service at the store? TIA

I was at the store yesterday so I picked up the rental car coupons from outside customer service in the travel racks.
I just checked www.bjs.com online in the travel section under car rentals and they also have
the $40 coupon...for the 10 day Alamo rental.
They have other coupons, but the 10 day worked for me for our 10 day rental.
tHE $40 code is for 10 day or greater rentals with Alamo.
