Rental Car? Onsite vs Offsite

This trip will just be my DH and me. If I were traveling along with my 4yo son, like I have done in the past, I would want onsite, but for 2 adults I would consider going offsite for the rental car.

How much of a pain is it? Do you wait for the individual rental car van to take you to their offsite location or is there one van that goes to a big offsite location (that's how it's done at DFW airport)? How often do the vans run and how much longer does it really take to rent offsite?

I did this with Thrifty in March and it wasn't a hassle at all. They had their own shuttle, Hertz has their own, etc. and it was already waiting when I arrived. I boarded, waited about 5 minutes for them to fill up with a few more passengers and it was a quick drive.
I was tired and irritated at that point because I had a horrendous travel day but, the wait was not bothersome at all.

Thanks, Leftcoaster. I'm pricing my options out and looks like I can get onsite for only $4 more than offsite. Unless I find a cheaper offsite I'll probably go for that.

Hertz off site is great. The bus is always waiting and you are driving out of the lot in less than 10 mins. It is also a good idea to do curbside check in when you return your car. That way you don't have to lug your luggage on the shuttle or on a cart through the airport. Then return the car.

I'll check into Hertz, too. I think I have Entertainment coupons for Hertz.
