Has anyone booked a rental car to be picked on WDW property? I think I read somewhere that Alamo & National have rental centers at Disney and they'll pick you up at your resort to get the car -- :confused3 is this right? Do I have to call or can I book this online?
Just a little background -- DH has a training week in Orlando & I decided to tag along with our kids. We'd like to take ME to the resort from MCO but we'll need a car for a few days while we're there. I'd like to take ME back to MCO without having to return the car since I'll have 4 kids with me -- DH will stay all week for work. If we could p/u & ret from Disney it would make things easier for us all around. TIA!

You can call the Magic Kingdom Auto Plaza 407-824-3470 and see what they can offer you via Alamo or National or call the resort desk where you'll be staying and ask for their help. :goodvibes

There are a lot more car rental companies on Disney property than people realize. In addition to Alamo/National, Avis is at the Hilton, Dollar is at the Grosvernor and Hertz is at Shades of Green. Check them all out and go with the best deal.

We will be doing something similar in December. Using ME but then picking up a car on property. How do you get the car and the get back to your resort after droping it off? Do they provide a shuttle or do you take a cab?

If renting at Disney's Car Care Center (Alamo), they have a shuttle that will pick you up from the Disney resorts and take you to the CCC.

If renting at Dolphin (Alamo or National), take Disney bus to Dolphin from any theme park or the Transportation & Ticket Center.

If renting at a Downtown Disney hotel (Hilton, Grosvenor), take Disney bus from your resort to Downtown Disney, then either transfer to the Downtown Disney hotels bus or walk.

By the way, National was sharing the Car Care Center location with its sister brand Alamo, but I learned today that they will no longer be at that location as of 1/17/07. Car Care Center will be Alamo only.

Even though Swan & Dolphin would be much more convenient, I got a Budget rental car from Doubletree Hotel for almost $80 less than National and Alamo. Anyone ever use them?

I was a little bummed as I always rented from the National at the Car Center and now they're going to be closed--and the Alamo rates are much higher for me. I was afraid that the other ones would be too far away, but I've actually found on Google Maps that the ones in Kissimmee are actually closer than the DD ones (to Pop Century,) and much closer than the CC was. I suppose as long as they have shuttle service, it's all similar.

We rented from the Dolphin (Alamo) last year and it was incredibly easy. We just planned our Epcot day for the car pick up day. Walked over around 2 pm, did the paperwork, got the keys, and returned to Epcot for dinner and IllumiNations. At park closing, we walked back to the Dolphin, gave the valet our keys, and he drove the car around. Then, back to POP....a left, a left, a left and a right, then a left. Easy peasy, as my dd used to say.
If you rent from the DTD places, I believe some of them do a shuttle/pickup service. We are planning on using Budget from DoubleTree in August and I believe they offer a pick up service at your resort, or you could just take the bus to DTD and cross the street.
