OK, we thought you could get a rental car with tinted windows. One of my children has an issue with her eyes, that requires reduced sunlight..Without having to protect her eyes in the car we thought it wouldnt be an issue with the rental company. Now I find out most of the rental vans dont have tinted windows? :confused3 I bought those sticky screens for the windows, and put in a request to get a van with tinted windows, but its not a guarentee. So if we get there, and the van doesnt have tinted windows, and we decide to just take ME instead and get a car later in the week for only the days we absolutely need one, can we just head down to ME and take a bus, or should we make a reservation, and if we dont show up no big deal? :confused3

I know we wont be able to have our bags picked up by them, and thats not an issue for me.

TIA

You need to have a reservation. So, if you are staying in a WDW resort, call and sign up for ME. They will send you tags. If you don't show up it is not a big deal. I got mine in less than a week. With the tags they will collect your luggage, in fact, they will collect your luggage without the tags, just go to the ME desk and give them the luggage claim tickets. BUT, you MUST have a reservation.
There are stickys at the top of this board explaining all about ME.

A few concerns. One if you put those "sticky screens" on the car and they damage it you are responsible (I have no idea what "sticky screens" are so this may or may not be an issue. ) Also, how deep do you need the tinting to be? I thought that FL wouldn't let you tint too dark under state law, but I could be wrong (Seems like I remember reading that the cops were pushing for that, but...)

If you put the yellow tags on your bags at least some of you need to get on the bus. If you plan to claim your own luggage the ME doesn't care if you show up or not

I am a little concerned about how you plan to navigate Disney if the rental car is this big an issue. I hope this all works out well, you might post over on teh DISabilities board for advice.

Our child has special sun glasses she can wear, but doesnt want to keep them on all the time. We are planning on going to the beach for a few days is my concern and why I was hoping to get tinted windows. They dont need to be heavily tinted, but its that they need to block some UV rays. As for the stickys, they are the screens you buy in baby stores that just apply to the window, and pull off like colorforms.

I think we have our problem solved because I found out they have an 8 passenger van that has tinted windows. Thanks!
