rental car in driver's name?

Can anyone tell me if I reserve a rental car in my name using my credit card, when we go to pick it up can someone else be the driver and not me? And can someone be added as a driver later? (Someone in our group arrives a day later) Or can they be added if they aren't present?

To answer your first question, yes we did this with Budget in the summer. My name was on the reservation and the credit card but DH was the driver. I can't imagine they'd let you add a driver that wasn't present since they need to see a driver's license.

As long as that driver is on the contract, yes. you will have to add that driver before you pick up the vehicle. yes, you can add another driver later.
