Rental Car Help

Help Please!
I am thinking of renting a car (for the first time) and would like some advice.....I am leaving Thursday so finding a good deal is probably out of the question. There are only 2 of us going so size doesn't matter.....smaller better!!!

From a quick search on Orbitz.com, it looks like Dollar and Alamo have the best rates among the companies that have a good reputation and are located in the terminal. From $16/day for an economy car up to $22/day for a full-size. Seems pretty cheap to me, but you could always check mousesavers and see if any of the codes save you some money.

I just checked the Alamo website and used Rate Code BY and ID# 430710 (this is a wal-mart code that anyone can use) and came up with a compact car (Chevy Cavalier) for $13.69/day + taxes and fees for a total of $74.60 for September 29th - October 3rd.

Maybe booking last-minute is a good thing during the slower seasons because that seems pretty cheap.

I might try Priceline. I just used them for DH's Extravagant Birthday Trip II. I bid $12 for a compact, got Hertz (shuttle from MCO, so adds some time) and got an upgrade to a Hundai Sonata. Not shabby at all! We loved the moon roof!

I just put in your dates at Alamo.com and came up with $57.06 for the time frame you are going to be there. That is for a economy or a compact- same price. I used entertainment coupon for $15 off a 3 day rental. Codes I used were Rate code XQ
