Anyone seeing any movement on Mini Van prices for March 2011?

Getting a little frustrated and concerned. I've found a few new coupons and codes but when I apply them they say "not valid for dates". I'm beginning to think our dates are blacked out.

Right now I have a Mini Van with Budget reserved $583 for 12 days..and a Large SUV with Alamo $661. We really need an 8 passenger vehicle but may make due with 7 if the prices don't come down.

Rates are off the hook for March. I am so glad I booked our 10 day reservation back in August through National for $223. Our friends are with Budget for about the same and they booked in Oct.

Our dates coincide with Spring Break for us AND the UCA National Cheer Championships, so WDW and MCO are busy at that time..

Just wondering if that price was for a Mini Van??

Sorry, no. It was for Full Size using Executive Selection with National... so I most likely will end up with something like a mini-van, but for sure a full size....

It is brutal this year for car rentals! I have one booked right now, mid-size from March 7th pickup time 8:30 pm returning March 18th at noon, for $273, I am afraid to touch it, but I just changed my flight on the 7th, we get in now at 11:30 am. What would you suggest I do now, cause if I book a whole new ressie it is up into the $500 range, should I just leave my ressie alone, and when I go to pick up my car, pay for the extra 9 hours? I don't know what to do!
Any help would be appreciated!

Just an update. I called Dollar today where my original ressie is, and explained about the flight change and everything. She changed my time to pick up, and only charged me $12 more, so that isn't bad! Total for everything, taxes, fees, midsize March 7th to 18th (12 day rental) came to $285. Not complaining, I feel that is very good for March!

Reading everyone's comments regarding how high the prices are for March and taking into consideration how close we are prices aren't moving that much (coupons haven't changed much either)....I'm beginning to wonder if my $548 for 12 days (Mini Van) isn't such a bad price afterall :confused3

Impatiently waiting for this chapter of our vacation planning to be over!

Couldn't agree with you more Rainbowmist! I would prefer going through Alamo just for the kiosk! Can't get a good price right now though, if they ever come down I may change, right now I am feeling fortunate for the price I have! Good luck!

IIRC, Dollar has mini vans for $46.99, IF you use an American Express card.

Go the specials link at the top of their home page and look in the section marked partner specials. It should be there. It's only a couple of dollars/day less than what you've already got, but that's a couple of dollars more in your pocket.

Thank you for trying however it says "No vehicles are available that meet your requirements."

On a funnier note...I couldn't help but notice they have a major typo at the top of their page for that special "Exclusive Savings on a Minvian for American Express® Cardmembers" :lmao:

You've been working on this too hard and too long!!

RainbowsMist, I have been continuing to check on van rates for you and I haven't been successful in finding something below that $583.00 rate you have found. Have you tried asking your own rate at Priceline?

Sorry it didn't work out. I'll have to go back and check it out. I missed the typo.

I still think prices could drop otherwise I may be stuck with my (gulp) Payless reservation. It really pains me to say that name, it is a 4 letter word to me.

Thank you so very much for trying :flower3:

I did try Priceline last night ... REJECTED :guilty:

Oh well...I've come to the conclusion my sanity is worth more than what little $$$ I'll probably end up saving at this point :rotfl2:

I'm surrending to the car rental game...they win! That being said, should a lower price "fall in my lap" I won't turn it away :rolleyes1

At least there's comfort in knowing I'm not alone :grouphug:

You do feel like you have to give in after awhile, don't you!? :scared1:

I put in the dates of just 3/13 - 3/20 at Costco/Alamo using ID 7015309 and coupon AD8221SDF and it came out to $556.41 + $128.74 fees = $685.15 for a Dodge Caravan for that one week. (I was curious if it would get cheaper to break it down to 1 week at a time) That does include a free second driver and unlimited miles but, sheesh...not helping.

With those codes, I found a mid-size (for our trip) for about $110.00 plus fees so I was hoping it would be better than that for a minivan. It's that spring break week, I guess.

I just rebooked a midsize at Alamo for $186.08 including taxes. Rental from MCO 3/22 10 am thru 3/29 noon. Used the Alamo Insider (free to join) code of 7015135.

I'm happy about the price (considering I was over $300 for the same reservation 2 weeks ago) but I'm always looking to do better. I couldn't get any coupons (even ones with valide dates) to work for this reservation.

Anyone have any that work for late March at MCO? :confused3

I could not get any coupons to work for late March either. I will keep trying as we get closer to my dates.

Bumping ... we are traveling March 1 to Universal Studios. Hoping to get a cheap rental car so I'm not stuck on property ... I will need to get out and about and SHOP!!

I just checked my rental for Easter week and it went down a whopping $2.22! Of course I re-booked......hey that's an extra 1/2 gal. of gas LOL!
