Rental Car for March

I 've got an Economy from Dollar for 8 days, 3/3 -3/10 for $180 and change total, no code or discount.

Today I received an e-mail from American Airlines stating that they are now offering car rentals paid for completely by points! I tested my vacation dates in March, and I can get an intermediate size car with a couple of the major rental agencies for around 14,000 points. Not a bad deal if you happen to have a lot of excess points lying around. :cool2:
Unfortunately the bulletin board system won't allow me to post a link until I have a few more posts...but here is the website for American Airlines car rentals in long form: www dot useaamiles dot com.

Received the same e-mail. Also looked for our March days and got same thing, 14,500 points for intermediate (Avis) 13,500 (Budget). Not sure what to do, my cash price now with Avis is 262. I know prices usually drop but, that's a great way to save. We never fly AA, dh did for work. I noticed you can't reinstate your points, so no canceling if better cash rate comes out. You can also book with miles & cash if you don't have enough miles.

Just booked a full size from March 12 to March 18th from budget for $173 all fees and tazes in through expedia.

Two rentals with Budget using my entertainment code (found online at Entertainment.com) $275.49 for 3/13 at 10:30 pm to 3/24 at 10am. Pick up Orlando, dorp off Tampa. Intermediate car (G6) plus $20 off and free upgrade.
Second is same car class and coupon 3/13 to 3/21 pick up and drop off Orlando. $216.04 before coupon. Not bad price. There are 6 of us and 2 cars was cheaper than one minivan. Headed to Vero Beach and Tampa so need a car.

I am checking on rentals from March 23 - 29 and I am getting a rate of $350+...we are going down for a workshop for DH and some of the rental companies are giving me a message that they are booked up so I've got to book something soon! I just don't like that rate...:sad2:

Just a heads up, I keep checking my Dollar rates and my dates that cost me $180 when I reserved would now be over $500 for the same thing.

Try Budget using BCD Number x474200 (travelocity public code) and E-Coupon MUWZ023 for $25.00 off. Total for a minivan is $274.24 after coupon is applied at checkout.

Hmm...I tried using these codes for our March 14 - 24 trip and get $472 for a mini van..I paid that in April last year for 2 weeks! Hope the rates drop :guilty:

Yes that is what I get. Rate are dependent on demand and supply so will depend on specific dates.

Dont forget, if you dont pay with your credit card, you dont have that automatic insurance coverage. Just something to think about.

Just wondering if there's been any movement on the March rates? I've been looking but not seeing anything..perhaps someone else has had better luck? ;)

On Nov. 16 I got an Economy from Dollar for 8 days, 3/3 -3/10 for $180 and change total, no code or discount. Since then I've seen the same thing fluctuate from a high of $523 to yesterday's $330. I hope for the sake of those still looking that I'm wrong, but I think you missed your window. We've been to WDW the first week to 10 days in March 10 times since 1999, not alwarys renting but always looking, and my $180 is about as good as I've seen for 8 days, mid to upper $200 range the norm.

It is brutal this year for car rentals! I have one booked right now, mid-size from March 7th pickup time 8:30 pm returning March 18th at noon, for $273, I am afraid to touch it, but I just changed my flight on the 7th, we get in now at 11:30 am. What would you suggest I do now, cause if I book a whole new ressie it is up into the $500 range, should I just leave my ressie alone, and when I go to pick up my car, pay for the extra 9 hours? I don't know what to do!
Any help would be appreciated!

all agencies, use codes. KEep the one you have unless you can do better with new dates.

Let us know how you make out. I also need for same month.

I'd do 2 things, first I'd check all onsite agencies for the date/time you need now, keeping your current ressie in hand. If nothing works for you call your company, get through to a real human and see if that person can add the hours without breaking the bank. I think the second option should work out for you, good luck!

ps. There'a always Priceline, we scored with that approach one time.

The rate I had with Budget dropped from $ 254 to $ 241 about a week ago, for a 5 day rental from 3/10 to 3/15 for a mid-size car. I also found the same $ 241 rate through Avis from a code on flyer I received with my AmExpress bill. I try to check rates about 1 or twice a week, but have not found anything lower.
