Rental Car Drop Off

I am renting a car from Avis for our trip at the end of September. We are only renting for 1 day to do Universal and then will be using Disney transportation to parks, etc. We plan to go to Universal all day on a Wednesday (park closes at 6pm) and then head over to Disney. What is the best option for returning the car? Drive back to MCO and get on the Magical Express (sounds time consuming...)?? I noticed that there is an Avis rental car in one of the hotels near downtown Disney, but their hours are only till 6pm! Any other solutions out there or is returning to the airport the best idea?

By trying to return to a different site I have found the cost $$$$. When returning the car to the origin rental as MCO it may be $50. Try to return the same car to Disney site it could easly be 4 times more. Try the rental sites and plug in your needs.
Is there enough ME transfers for a double trip?

I found with codes we can often find a $17 a day rate at 6 @ $150. One person picks up the rental and the rest take the ME. Reverse the day we would leave. It was nice to have the rental to go off site to eat at our fav places, and shop for on site snacks, sandwhich foods, fruits and drinks.
The alternative may be an onsite rental. I know I used Enterprise and they as others will pick up and drop you off at the hotel. A lot of travel time consumed.

Yesterday we booked Alamo. Pick up at MCO at 7:00 PM. staying at Embassy Suites 1st nite. Will be at rope drop to Universal next morning. Drop off at Dolphin Hotel 7:00 PM. 24 hour rental. Got a minivan for $102 with taxes! We are very pleased! Joined the alamo insider club or whatever it is. It's free and gives you some specials. I used the BJ's membership number and got this great rate! Since we are staying at BCV, dropping off at dolphin was perfect for us since it's next door. There are 7 of us, so we needed the van.
