Anyone have any experience ? Will I be allowed to rent ? I’m hoping to be out of cast but if not my whole trip may be in jeopardy
Thanks

You are supposed to have 2 hands on wheel at all times .

You will have to sign the rental agreement at car hire desk and they will see your cast .

How will you answer your cell phone & text while driving ?

That’s illegal ( at least where I’m from . ) Unless you are flat out just being rude which is completely uncalled for . The ortho doc filled my work paperwork out saying I’m clear to drive so ..
And lots of people drive with one hand . I can still have my hand on the wheel .. and use my signal and and and ..
I just don’t understand the need to be rude

Well, you got 1/3. Yes, you're "supposed to" have 2 hands on the wheel. Guessing most people don't.

OP, I would bring the statement from your ortho clearing you to drive, although you shouldn't need it (and they're not going to know if it's fake or not).

Relatively certain that last line was a joke. Anyone truly concerned should absolutely investigate the driving rules where the will be driving.
And lots of people drive with one hand .
Yep. Lots of people text and drive, too. Lots of people neglect to use directionals. Lots of people almost-but-not-quite stop at stop signs. Fewer, but still lots of, people ignore stopped school buses (Two local incidents on yesterday's news). Lots of people ignoring the law doesn't make it an acceptable defense.

Again wasn’t really asking for a defense for breaking the law.. just asking if anyone has ever rented a car while in a cast.

Please show where driving with one hand is against the law.

sure they will rent to you. I had a cast on my right foot and the rented to me. I rolled up to the rental counter in a wheelchair.
Plus what about people who only have one hand they can rent cars.

point taken. In fact, in Alabama, "State law does not require a motorist to have two hands on the steering wheel, he said, and there is no law specifically requiring a driver to keep his or her eyes on the road."

Rent from Hertz for work all the time never go to the desk to sign for anything simply go to the car, drive to the gate, and they take my license and mileage before letting me go.

I highly doubt the rental person will even say anything let alone care that you have a broken arm.
