Rent a Car or Taxi for one day?

We (which is DH, DD7, DS4 and me) have one park-free day for our vacations... so we want to go to the Premium Outlets in the morning and in the afternoon do some Resort tour (monorail tours and the WL) and end up watching the Electrical Pageant and Wishes from WL...
So my question is... should we rent a car? We'll be using the Disney Transportation System and ME, and we're staying on ASMo, so we decided not to rent a car for the lenght of our stay.
But when planning the day for Premium Outlets, I decided that using the Buses will be a total headache, so I thought on taking a cab to Premium, head back to the hotel and leave the stuff, also in cab, and then maybe take a bus to MK and take the monorail.. but I know the cabs will be as much as one day rent, but wouldn't be also a waste of time to go to the rental in the morning and leave it there?
Sorry, I'm a little bit confused here...
Any comments?

Depending on the price, rent the car. Rent it late the previous day (you can keep the car 24 hours)... and use it to get around that night or to go somewhere out-of-park for dinner, or to the coast to see the sun set.

car, it's certainly a good idea.

And actually, if you want to go on a tour of all the resorts (especially the non Monorail ones), it will be a lot easier with a car since the Disney buses do not really go directly from one resort to another. You would have to go to a park and switch busses to get to various resorts.

Alamo and National are available at the Car Care Center near the MK, and at the Dolphin. The Dolphin's office is open from 8:00 - 4:00, so if you pick-up the car there, best to get it the morning you need it and return it the next morning - then go to Epcot or MGM that day.
