Rent a car or a Limo for WDW and DCL?

What type of transportation should we use?

  • Rent a minivan or larger even though I have to park it while on the cruise

  • Hire some sort of limo or other service to provide the transportation

We have been on the Magic for the 7 night cruise, but wanted something a little different so we are doing the 3 night Wonder. We are starting the the trip with 5 nights on our own at WDW. Because we are starting with WDW and then the cruise (as opposed to the Land/Sea packages that Disney offers which are the reverse) I can't take their transfers.

I am trying to decide whether it is better to rent a vehicle for the duration of the trip, which allows us to drive to the ship as well as back to the airport on our own schedule (but then we have to pay to park the vehicle while on the ship), or rely on a limo of some sort. We have always had wheels at WDW, whether we drove to Fla or flew.

BTW, we are a family of 5, so we would need to rent a minivan to hold all of us and our luggage.

All thoughts either way would be apprecaited.

Many thanks....

Why leave the rental vehicle in the parking lot?

I am renting from Avis one day and then getting another car the day we return.

These two rentals are less than $100 total for a full size car.

We cruised 12/20-27 - peak season for rental cars, also. We found that by using Budget, and a code on the Dis transporation board for Disney guests, we could rent a car for the two days at WDW before the cruise, drop the car at the Port Canaveral Budget office, shuttle back to the port, and do the reverse for a one day rental for the 6 hours we had until our flight, and it was all cheaper than the cost of 4 transfers would have been from MCO to WDW, WDW to PC, and then PC to MCO. You just do a one-way rental both times you rent.

PS - we had 4 people, 8 bags, 4 carry-ons, lap top, camera bag, 4 coats and pillows, and it all fit in a Blazer!
