We're bringing our class A to Fort Wilderness in April of 2009 and don't really want to bring our car on our dolly from Michigan. Has anyone rented a vehicle at Disneyworld? Do the auto rental companies bring them to the fort office for pickup? We only want to rent a car for a long weekend while we're enjoying our two weeks stay to visit Universal, Sea World, etc. :laundy:

They will come pick you up at the fort. I would recommend a ressie to make sure you get it.

There is a car rental office at the car care center Alamo Rent-a-Car Disney Car Care, 1000 Car Care Drive, Orlando, FL 32832; Phone: (407) 824-3470., or you can use one of the companies that "bring it to you". That would be:
Enterprise 8701 World Center Dr, Orlando - (407) 397-0800

Hertz Local Edition which is in the Shades of Green Resort
1950 Magnolia Palm
Lake Buena Vista, Florida, United States
Hours of Operation: 0800-1700 7 Days

There is also a National/Alamo location at the Dolphin which is easy to get to from Epcot or the Studios.

Also check on how much for the week it was cheaper by the week than a weekend
Actually, you can get great weekend deals.

While Orlando may be an anomaly, most rental companies have lots of cars sitting on the lots weekends due to M-F business travelers. Due to this fact there are some great rates to be had for a weekend rental.

There is a rental place at the shades of green also.
That is where we usually get one.
They also will pick you up at the fort at the reception area , and when I returned it he brought me right back to the 700 loop to the site I was at.
All the area rental places seem to be close in price.
As long as you carry enough of your own insurance it's not too expensive, but if you need the insurance, thats when it gets expensive, fast.
