When I was there in February the life guard had told us that she heard they were going to be renovating the pool area. I thought she said this winter. Does anybody know if this is true or not? I love the pool area but seeing how much time we spend there (wake- up morning swims, hot afternoon swims, quiet night swims) that it is definately in need of a makeover. I think it could use a slide and a hot tub or two. What does everyone else think? Where would the best place be to send a recommendation to disney about this? I've heard in other threads that when enough people do it that it can really help get a point across. :grouphug:

I'm not a pool guy, my wife is, but I know there are a lot of people on this forum that would be very happy if this renovation rumor were true.

My husband isn't too crazy about it either. He goes in maybe once a day but I know the kids can't get enough of it. I'm hoping it is true and somebody "in the know" can shed some light on this one.

That would be great. We love FW but the pool needs a little something. Waterslide, HOt tub? water squirters(not sure what they are really called).

I agree breebell- I kids area with fountains or something would be great.

Surprising that FW pool is what it is...a pool. I think if it were anywhere else we wouldn't give it a second thought. However, being that it is a Disney Resort and Campground the tendency is to compare the campground pool to the pools at the other Disney resorts..and then it does fall short. It wouldn't be as much of an issue if River Country were still opened and offered at a discounted rate to the campers. The plain pool has sent more than one camper pool hopping at other Disney Resorts. You would think for that reason alone, Disney would update the pool. It is getting on in years also. I think a hot tub would be a great addition also. Who knows...maybe we could "Wish Upon a Star!"......okay..I couldn't resist. I'll be quiet now. :)

As someone that does a swim workout 5 mornings a week I love the FW pool. I get up and do a swim early in the morning. It's hard to do much of a swim workout in the waterpark type pools.

My husband enjoys swimming laps for exercise also. I do think he'd be able to do that at the smaller quiet pool in the campground. Of course there is no lifeguard there either. I think FW draws a good many families and the kids sure would appreciate a more updated pool. As I said, if it were any other campground, I don't think anyone would think twice about the pool...it's just that it is Disney, and you do tend to make the comparisons to the other resorts. Would be nice...but what can you do. I think that FW is one of the resorts that is always booked and they have no problems with vacancies..so they are not apt to make too many changes unless they have to.

I would love to see an updated child's area. The little kiddy pool is quite lame. But, beggers can't be choosers. I guess!!! :confused3

Perhaps but I take our kids to the Meadows pool nearly every afternoon that we are at FW. I'm guessing that they've swum at Meadows at least 20 or 25 times. They have yet to make any negative comments about the pool. Nor have they ever wished that the pool at more. They're kids. Let them swim and have fun. They really don't care about all that stuff. They make their own fun.

Not only would I like to see the pool renovated. I would love to see river country reopen to the campground. That would be a added bonus for campers. I do however hope the rumour about the pool is true. :yay:

I wish I could say the same. Seeing that we stay all over WDWR they are used to the "fun" pools. Don't get me wrong- they do have fun but they always ask before we go if there is a slide there now. We swim about 3 times a day and they still enjoy it but something different would be great. Maybe it would keep the teenagers from doing backflips off the lifeguard chair everynight. :scared1:
