I recently discovered what rennet is, and promptly decided that I can no longer consume that. I thought I'd be safe just eating cheese with enzymes in it and learned that those enzymes are also animal product.

So, is there any cheese out there that doesn't have animal enzymes in it? Or am I destined for a life without cheese.

cheese itself is an animal product, isn't it?

Yes, it has dairy. I eat dairy, I eat products that contain eggs and dairy. I'm not vegan. The thought of rennet and animal enzymes just grosses me out.

Thank you!

Someone else just told me that Trader Joes has a huge selection of cheeses that I can eat as well as the staff to know about it.

YAY

ETA: that is the best list ever! I can buy the cheeses I have been using all along!

Any Kosher cheese would be OK too. Just look for Kosher certification.

Cabot cheese doesn't have rennet. I don't think that Heleva good does, either, but I don't know how widely available it is.

Trader Joe's is a great store for this kind of thing. Wegmans and Whole Foods might also have what you're looking for. I'm not fond of most dairy products so I eat veggie slices which is soy based. They're really good and come in several varities. Trader Joe's has the best price on this.

I just dropped a load of cash at TJs. Stocked up on yummy cheeses that cost a small fortune at the regular grocery store. I didn't see Veggie Slices or Horizons there, so I will get them at the regular grocery store.

Thanks for the help!
