Renewing DDE without renewing DVC AP

Hi all,

We have a DDE that expires at the end of Aug, 2006. Also, our APs will expire at the end of August. We are not sure if we are going to renew our APs this year.

So my question is, if I call to renew the DDE in Mid or late July, will I be able to renew it? My AP will still be active at that point.

Wow, that's a good question! Since an active AP is needed to get the DDE card in the first place, I would be skeptical that you could do that, but it MIGHT be a loophole!

Just back from WDW, used the DDE card frequently. No one asked to see my AP (which I did have). Hope this helps.

THat's not the issue. You should NEVER have to show your AP to use the DDE card, but you DO need an active AP to PURCHASE the DDE card, therefore, can you RENEW it just before your AP expires?

I don't see why you couldn't renew your DDE even if your AP is about to expire. After all, you can order DDE (and have it effective) with just an AP voucher. No one ever checks to see when (or if) you ever exchange the voucher for an AP. (You could use the voucher to purchase MYW tickets if you so choose).

Anyway, the only requirement to buy a DE card that I know of is to have an AP/PAP, a voucher for one of those, or be a Florida resident.

I think you will be able to renew your DDE without a problem. If it were me, I'd call and see. If the CM refuses, you'll have your answer, but my belief is that the CM will just ask for your AP number and send you the new DDE card.

I can't see why you would not be allowed to renew it. If they had a rule that said nobody could renew their DDE card within a month of the expiration of their AP I think we would have heard about it by now. Plus it would be just plain unfair to those who happened to have a Disney trip planned during the last month of their AP who needed to renew the DDE for that trip and were told "Sorry, but for this particular trip to Disney, no DDE for you! Call us back in a month when you have renewed that AP." I just can't see them doing that.

Our APs were expiring before our DDE renewal date. I called DDE to renew and was told they would send out renewal notices in plenty of time and would not take my info over the phone. You must enter your AP number on the renewal form. I don't know how vigilent they are checking the numbers.
