Considering renewing our APs. Does the 1 year clock on use still start when first used or does it now continue after the expiration of the current pass? We usually take a year off between our visits. In the off year we do not visit at all and then the following year will visit 2 or 3 times.

I renewed my incredible pass while I was in Magic Kingdom back in December. The renewal date starts as soon as the expiring pass expires.

OP, unless you're a FL resident and would want a Pixie Pass, WDW is currently not selling APs.

So if you don't renew, you may not be able to purchase an AP anytime soon. Sales have been paused for over a year now.

If you think about it what a renewal means, this is an easy one to answer all on your own
Renewing anything keeps going continually, non-stop
Renewing car tags, keeps it going nonstop
Renewing drivers license, keeps it going nonstop
Renewing professional licenses of any sort, they keep going nonstop
So, what do you think that would do to the date of your AP? keep the dates going, non-stop.
Renewal is renewal, no matter what it is. It always works the same when you renew. It means you don't let it lapse.
