My DH and I are Florida Residents. Our Annual Passes are expiring in June. We want to renew to the Platinum Pass but want to figure one thing out first.
If we renew with monthly payments today, when does the first payment begin? The contract looks like it will post payment on the anniversary date. Is that true?

During the renewal process, the following is displayed for the Monthly Payment Option:
Cost will be split into 12 monthly payments. First payment will be charged within 2 days. A credit card is required. Discounted for Florida Residents.

My renewal date is Nov 1st. Last fall when I decided to renew my AP I put it on the monthly payment plan rather than pay all up front as I had previously been doing. I wrongly assumed/misunderstood from what I read on the WDW website I wouldn't get charged until Nov 1st when my AP actually expired. Instead I got dinged in early October for my "first" payment from the date when I decided to renew. I am watching to see what happens come this October how it's going to handle charging me for a "13th payment" if I haven't decided yet to renew or how to pay (upfront or payment plan). I hope it gives me an option or warning first?

And the reason I renewed early rather than wait til my expiration date is I had a trip planned for early Nov so in order to book FP+ I had to have an active AP. If I wouldn't have had to book FP+ I would have waited longer to renew again.

That's what I was afraid of. So, I will definitely wait until closer to time to renew our passes.

Yes, the date you choose to call up or go online to renew is the date that your monthly payment will begin & will recur each month.

You have 30 days to renew after your expiration date on the 12th month, they will not automatically renew it for you. You will receive renewal notices before & after the date in the mail if you have not renewed yet. If you wait until after the 30 day grace period, you will be paying the full price for renewal instead of the FL resident passholder renewal rate & will be required to put down the initial deposit all over again.

I've actually waited a couple weeks after my renewal date just to separate my bill due dates, since all my bills were due within the same couple of weeks for a year. It helps to control your monthly payment date to when most of your bills are not due IMO to even things out.

Good to know. I wasn't sure if since they already had my credit card they would just keep right on charging it. Thanks :)
