Renewing an AP

Does anyone know if when you renew your AP does it start immediately, if that makes sense. What I'm trying to figure out is our AP's expire 11-21 but we are not going down until 2-20 so I'm trying to decide if I should skip the renewal and just buy new ones in February.

When you renew online do you just get a voucher or do they mail you your new tickets? Thanks so much in advance for any input!

I've never renewed online so not sure what they send you but do know that if you renew your AP would expire 11/21/13 not 2/20/14.

You get a voucher. By definition, your renewal carries the same dates as your previous AP. if it was pushed out further, it would be a new AP, not a renewal.

You would have to activate at a ticket booth (with an ID) before you enter the park.

If you decide not to renew until Feb, you might want to check the price. Normally when you renew your AP you get a discount. But, the discount is only good up until I believe 30 days after your pass expires.

If you're not going to the parks, it's not usually worth it to renew. I think the time frame is 2 months - if you're away longer than that, it makes more sense just to buy a new pass vs. renewing.

that's what I've always read

When our first APs were going to expire it was September 2011 - we didn't have another trip planned until January 2012 so we let them expire. Then for our January trip we booked a MYW package with free dining. So got the free dining then upgraded the tickets to new APs.
