Hi,

Hopefully someone can answer 2 questions I have regarding AP renewals:

1. Where oh where on the DVC member site can I do this? The first page of the site has a link that has the AP rates for members, but when I click on the link to buy it takes me to the "regular" WDW AP page with non-discounted prices. What am I doing wrong?

2. If I have a PAP can I renew it as a regular AP with the renewal discount? Or will I have to pay the price for a new AP since I am not renewing exactly the same type pass?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! I did a search on this board, but couldn't find the answer to either of my questions. Thanks,

Mar'

The website is funky! I gave up on it. Call MS - they'll take care of it for you. It will be quicker and you won't have to wonder if it worked!

Yes you can renew your PAP as a regular AP and still get the DVC discount for renewals. Again, MS can make this an easy process for you. Just tell the CM what you want to do.

Best wishe s-

Thanks Carol!

I was trying to avoid calling MS but you're right, that DVC website is funky! I tried getting to the DVC AP page 3 different ways, and each time it took me to the standard priced page.

I did call MS and got the renewal--but the first CM I talked to said I could NOT get an AP at the renewal price since I had a PAP this year. So I hung up, called back and got another CM--Amber--who did indeed allow me to purchase the AP as a renewal.

Whew, I'm exhausted, LOL! What a pain, and a lot more time than should have been necessary, but a happy ending and that's what counts!

Thanks again Carol, best wishes to you too!

Interesting. I tried to do the same thing a few weeks ago and MS told me you can't downgrade a renewal. They said my only option is to buy the regular AP with the DVC discount. Since I'm not going back until next June, I let my PAP lapse since I couldn't renew it as an AP. I'll purchase shortly before our next trip. :confused3

Sorry that happened to you EdDome, unfortunately (and unfairly) I think it depends who you speak to. Reminds me of when I go to a store, and I ask if they have a certain item. Some folks will not even look and say they don't have it. Then I'll look anyway and there it will be! And some folks will get up, look around, search in the back room, etc.

Some cm's seem to go that extra mile to be sure they have the right answer, some don't. As I posted earlier I got 2 different answers from 2 different cm's at MS. When I got the second one, who said I could renew even though I was downgrading from PAP to AP I did it there and then. Figured if I called again another day I might get a 3d CM with a different answer!

Unfortunately, in my experience and from what I have read elsewhere getting a different response depending on who you speak to seems to be all to common, not just with MS but with CRO also. You'd think there'd be some sort of standard way to look everything up so we all get the same answers to the same questions, but somehow that isn't what happens. Thank goodness for these boards and other internet sites, I'd have missed out more than once otherwise.

I also ended up calling MS because I was having trouble trying to renew online. My PAP expired in March. After talking with them I decided not to renew my PAP at that time. I had no plan to go to WDW soon because I was going to DL in July. My next trip is to WDW in September. Buying a new pass is only about $20 more than the renewal would have been so I figured it was worth waiting until I had a trip planned rather than wasting six months that I knew I wasn't going get any use of the pass. So now I will have a new renewal date for my pass. By the way, I had received a renewal reminder that listed a price for DVC member AP renewal, not PAP. So I would think that you can downgrade on a renewal.
