Renaissance World Gate HELP!!

Anyone have any info on the Renaissance World Gate. Search is down and I got a rate of $54 for April (Easter break) and was wondering if it was any good. It is the one closest to Disney not SeaWorld. Please any info...

I have stayed here twice via Priceline. Once in 2000 when it was known as the Doubletree Maingate and again in 2003 as the Rennaisance. It is a fine place to stay though Renaisance has let it pale a bit. The marble floors in the lobby were not shiny anymore! The room was still clean and comfortable. The rooms are nicely decorated and have been quiet. The bathroom is small...the kind where it is hard to close the door once you are in. The sink is located in the bathroom instead of outside like many places. There is a decent pool area in the courtyard. 7 Stories in two wings located a block or so off of 192 so you don't get road noise. It is also located near a two lane road which is a sort of back way into WDW. You don't need to go out onto 192. This road comes in near the Animal Kingdom onto Osceola Parkway.

Hi i took my family there for my wifes b-day 2 years ago! I had called them without my wife knowing and had roses ,Sparkling wine,strawberries,waiting for her in our room before we got there,They treated us like royality, Our room was upgraded to a vip room,They even had rose petals on the bed,and ballons,and a birthday cake!I had to laugh when i was in the elevator and house keeping was going over there vip list and they brought up our name.The room was nice as the hotel was under going a refurb,the pool was warm,and needless to say the stay exceeded my expectations,As i remember there was a fridge in our room and maybe a micro wave,They arranged for us to see a dinner show,Of couse all of this cost money but not what you would have expected,There could not have been a price put on my wifes face as she entered the room and saw what her "unromantic"husband had pulled off.Would i stay there again even without all this YES,It was a nice hotel,And you could see the tree of life its so close to the park.And i bet its allott nicer since the re-furb.

It is on 192 in Kissimmee.

I won this hotel via Priceline. I left and forfeited my money. The hotel is not safe in my opinion. Anyone can walk in (and they did). Everyday I received multiple pizza flyers under my door.

We stayed there in MArch 2001 for one night on priceline and I thought it was OK. Certainly worth the $40 (Incl all taxes and fees) we paid on Priceline. If you can make a cancellable reservation, I would say it's a good "backup" reservation. If it's prepaid and non cancellable, I'd read some more reviews. Hi! Well, a little freaked out after reading about the pizza scam thing - but anyway we will be there next week and I'll post a reply to your thread after October 20 to let you know how good or bad our stay was. I can't imagine that it can be that bad since it is a Mariott hotel. We'll see!!!!

The hotel is fine and is SAFE. I wonder where some people come up with these statements. The rate is inexpensive and it is a very good location and it is marriott. I guess Disney hotels are not safe either since anyone can get in.

Enjoy yourself and don't listen to what everyone else says. You will have a great time.

Where do you come up with your statement? I stayed there in August. I gave my opinion. The property is NOT safe in MY opinion. Just as you are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to mine. I had a 6 night Priceline reservation. I did not feel safe and left after my third night. I only saw a security guard once, and that was when I was checking out.

Anyone can walk in through any exterior door. You do not need to slide your room key to get into any of the outside doors (i.e. back door from the parking lot).

But of course, this is just MY opinion. I never said the hotel was dirty or a dump (it's not). My concern was safety.

And one other thing I found odd, besides a latch and dead bolt, an extra dead bolt was added on to the door (I've never seen that in a Marriott property before). That definitely suggests to me that the hotel knows there is a security issue.

Hi, I won this hotel on priceline for Dec. 2002 and stayed here 9 nights last year and I would stay here again. I have a review of this hotel on the biddingfortravel.com site. We arrived the day after Thanksgiving when the hotel was filled to capacity and got the last room given out that night as we checked in late from driving all day. We did have a few small problems with the room which we reported the next morning and they were fixed within 20 minutes including one fixed by the security guard (battery died when we opened the inroom safe door that night and he replaces the dead batteries to the safe). As for safety, it was my mom and I (two women) sleeping at the end of the hallway on the first floor right next to the door outside to the parking lot. We never once felt unsafe and I got to know that guard well as I saw him several times walking my hallway checking things out.

Although I didn't like the room furniture, the room was very clean and in good order and about the size of a moderate on property. We had a nice size safe, big enough to fit a medium size purse in. We had a coffeemaker with free coffee and tea (which we did use), iron and ironing board and basic wall unit hairdryer. Best thing of all is the refrigerator in the room. It is the counter high type refrigerator and boy did we manage to cram some things into it (including gallon of milk, 1/2 gallon of choc. milk, 1/2 gallon of orange juice, several bottles of water, a few 2 liters as well as can drinks and one night left overs from the Hoop Dee Doo Show and yes, this was all crammed in it at one time). As it was cold I did use the hot tub and talked with several families while there that were enjoying the hotel. We did not eat in the hotel rest. (menu in room shows it to be expensive) but did buy a few things from a sort of general store area selling basic muffins, bagels, drinks, etc. There is a microwave in this area that you can use to pop your own popcorn. We also had a few drinks in the bar (pina coloda's cost what I generally pay for them here) and we ordered movies on the tv in the room (I think they were $9 or $10 each). You can walk out in the parking lot or if you have a room on floor 2 and above, you get to see plenty of the fireworks shows going off at Disney everynight.

The staff was very pleasant. If you ask they will provide you with directions to use the side street to get to Disney property which is only one mile away (and they also gave me directions to get to US). You come out right next to Animal Kingdom and just follow the signs from there. It didn't take us any longer than 15 minutes to get to DTD or MK which was probably the farthest from the hotel. I liked my stay here. A few days we ate breakfast at Shoney's on US192 which was only 2 blocks away and we shopped in several souvenir shops which you can easily walk to (saved on many disney items that we saw on Disney property selling for $3 more than what we bought them for off property).

One story though, there is another lady from another board that stayed there after I did. She loves to stay on Disney prop. but stayed offsite to save money. Unfortunately when she was there, they had a large special family reunion who had an agreement with the management that some of the amentities were to be used by the family only (ie. pool and hottub). She was very upset that her children couldn't use the pool the entire stay. You may want to check to make sure that all amentities will be available during your stay.

We were at this hotel last week and were pleasantly surprised. We won a priceline bid and stayed for 3 nights before our extended stay at the Wyndham Palms Resort. The staff were friendly and I didn't detect any 'priceline snobbery'. There is a nice fitness center on the 6th floor that requires use of a room key to enter. I was usually there alone and never felt unsafe. There are 2 pools, the main with hot tub was always active with happy children, and the one at the north end was quiet and good for napping and reading. We had 2 beds and our daughter and son were coming in on the last night. We passed an employee who was wheeling an unmade roll-away bed down our hall. I asked him if he knew how much to rent it for the night, which he didn't. When we came back to our room after dinner the roll-away bed was made/ set-up in our room. We were not charged for it. How nice was that? I would not hesitate to use this hotel...convenient to attractions and friendly, caring staff at a most reasonable price.

We just returned from our stay at the Renaissance Worldgate. I have to agree with others that it never felt unsafe. We did get two pizza flyers under the door - that we just pitched. They have a note posted in your room that says that this is illegal (placing menus under your doors) and suggested that you didn't purchase from these pizza places. It was the same flyer both times. WHoopee!! The hotel room was clean but it definitely has an older atmopshere. Our bed mattresses needed replacing we could actually feel the coils. Not so good! Other than the mattress and older hotel atmosphere. It was not BAD it was OK. I wouldn't pay over $70.00. We had a $44.00 a night deal from octopustravel.com and that was worth it. It does have an excellent location to Disney World (all parks) just ask at the front desk and they have the directions on a little note. It was close to a Mc Donald's which was our breakfast stop. (Kids like the hashbrowns) There were a few restaurants nearby but nothing great. All in all I was satisfied with my $44 rate but wouldn't jump
to go back. It compared to a Fairfield type hotel. Just OK.

We've stayed there twice and would stay there again. We got a good rate on Priceline and, like the other posts indicate, the staff is excellent. We never really felt unsafe either. The first night, we brought the flyer down to the desk and they said they would take care of it and we didn't receive one for a couple of nights. Then, lo and behold, there it was again. We just threw it away and forgot about it.

Our room was on the 6th floor and we never heard any noise. It's a big room with the drawers under the window and a desk against the wall instead of a dresser. Big safe, as has been mentioned and big fridge. My husband is a wine drinker and he was able to fit the bottle in the fridge with no problem along with soft drinks and yogart.

The "back" way to the parks is wonderful and if you have a car, there's quite a few restaurants along 192. The restaurant in the hotel is very expensive but they have a snack bar that we used in the morning for donuts and bagels which was reasonable.

All in all, I would definitely stay there again.
