Who goes. The Pa Ren Faire is great and I will be going for like the 4th time this year.

We went over labor day weekend with our boys ages 8 & 4. They loved it, esp. the pirates. It was kind of pricey for a family but a good experience. I wouldn't go every year but it was nice to see.

I think it's very pricey with kids. The reason is you pay to get in and there are plenty of extra things you can do with kids that cost more money. We've dropped some change in the game alley. Now my kids are older and bring their own spending money so no more problems. We often pack a cooler and grab a quick bite before we go in. This way if we buy food it's just a treat not a meal. Since we tend to go at the end of the season gift shops have sales.

I wish I could go to one. I've always wanted to but there are never any in my area or even remotely nearby and it costs too much to travel as far as they tend to be.

Jennifer, a little less money and also fun is the corn maze in the same area.

They have a really great one in waxahachie, texas that we used to go to when we lived in TX. It was fun., although the ds got a little nauseated on some ride that was like a spinning barrel that they spun from a rope and the food was pretty expensive too.

totalia - where do you live? There are a lot of little ren faires popping up these days.

DH and I met at Bristol faire in WI; he's from MI and I'm from FL and we've hit a lot faires all over the east. We are going to Maryland's faire next weekend. I can't wait - I get to see a bunch of old friends!

We have one right now in Harveysburg Ohio. Good thing is, I won 4 tickets to it! Just have to pay for 1 child. Hooray!
We drop a lot of money on food. I think we will pack like Tiggeroo suggested.

started at the original in CA and now that I live in TN we own a booth at our local small faire. We traveled to Atlanta's faire this past spring and usually hit Ohio every other year. Dh worked at the PA Ren Faire before he moved here. We have yet to make it back to visit that one so I've never seen it up and running. I have a hard time justifying a trip to PA, same distance to Disney for us! :teeth:

Use some of the disney budget tactics....Bring your Brita water bottle, pack some sandwiches and a wallet full of money and all will be well :p

Also.. check the faire's website for discounts, as well as local radio and tv station sites. You can usually find a coupon for a couple bucks off.

Before kids DH and I always went to the one in Arizona - just east of Mesa. Now that we are in Texas we discovered the Faire near The Woodlands, TX. It is huge, and a blast. We're planning a visit next month!

I went to one ages ago. It was a lot of fun! If only the person I went with could get scratched out of the memory. ;)

My DH would LOVE to go to one. I should keep my eye out for one nearby.

I've been going to that one since the mid '80s. It sure has gotten expensive, though. It is over $20 now at the gate. Since I'm a regular customer, they send me an offer every year in the mail to buy tickets at a discount through the mail or on the web. I got them for $16 each this year.

We go to the Bristol Ren Faire every summer. It is on the border of WI and IL. My husband loves the bow and arrow, knife and ax throwing more than my son. :)

My friend's daughter worked the one in Ohio one year. She loved it!

We go!! We love it. This year, the girls will dress up in their princess costumes!

We've never gone b/c it seems so expensive for a family. We live close enough to the North Carolina one that it's a bit like living in Lake Buena Vista and never going to WDW!

I grew up on a dairy farm and feel like I did corn mazes (not really mazes, of course, just huge cornfields) my entire childhood. You know what I don't like about cornfields? Snakes love 'em.

I haven't been to that one in years. It seems like something always comes up. I already have plans for three of the weekends it will be going on. I did drive by the entrance a couple of weeks ago though, heading up to Plantersville. Maybe it's an omen that I'm going this time :D

Alberta Canada.

I have heard of Ren Faires in Edmonton but thats 6 hours drive away and I don't have a car. The next closest I know of would be in British Columbia and thats definately too far.

We love the one near us and we're going this weekend with my sister, my nephew and his wife.

They have the best apple dumplings EVER. I would willingly drive the hour to get there if all they had was the apple dumpling booth!
