I bid on Priceline and got this hotel for $50 in May. I see they are doing renovations of front desk, lobby, guestrooms, and restaurants from March 30-June 30. Anyone know anything about what is going on? Or any past experiences with the hotel in general?

I just won that on Hotwire for $63 the first night in Orlando. Thought the price was right for just sleeping one night. I'll post when I get back. Are you staying there more than one night?

Yes, we'll be there just one night, and it is a Saturday so I'm not too worried about the renovations. We won't be getting into MCO until 9:30 anyways, so we won't be there long. I can't wait to hear about your stay when you return!

I got that hotel a few years ago and can't tell you about renovations but it was fine when we stayed there. No complaints. Just a recommendation, make sure you ask about the shuttle when you check-in and be there in plenty of time. You know first come, first served and that's the whole point in staying at a hotel near the airport. :)

We stayed there 1 night before flying home a couple of weeks ago. They are in the middle of renovations but it seemed to have little effect on guests. They passed out a flyer to us at checkin that reviewed the updates. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfy. There was a micro and I think a coffee maker in the room. The pool was great and they have a very hot, hot tub. We did not try the hotel restraunt as it looked like they seated you in the lobby because of the renovations. It was just a short walk over to Fridays for dinner.
We had a very early flight out and they provide shuttle service on the half hour to MCO. There is a computer in the lobby for airline checkin. I paid 75 through Hotwire, you should be happy with your bid.

No it had not yet been renovated. We stayed on the 6th floor and although dated the room was fine for our 1 night stay.

Anyone know anything about the current status of the renovations?

Thanks!

I just got this hotel for $59 on Hotwire for July. I am also interested in info about rennovations.

I was hoping the shuttle ran about every 30 min. But do u have to reserve it or does it run automatically ? I was told by somone to call from the airport using the courtesy phone for a pick up. We'll be arriving around 9:30 pm at MCO. My husband has plans to catch the shuttle back to the airport the next morning to pick up our rental car. Should he make a reservation for this ?
Thanks

I stayed there awhile ago. It was first come, first serve at the time. Then again, there wasn't too many people that day. It doesn't hurt to check in advance. But I think if you were running late and there was a large group ahead of you, you'd have to wait for the next available one.

This happened to us at another hotel under different circumstances. We were flying home. One of the vans got into a fender bender, (they had 2 vans/down 1) and the airline ppl staying there had priority over us regardless of when we got there. At that point, we should have taken a taxi. :sad2:

Thanks for the tip Vivianne. We won't be in much of a rush when we stay there. It's the first night before our vacation starts.

As for info on the renovations LoveFl. I found this on sidestep :
http://www.sidestep.com/hotels-rates-h36351-renaissance_hotel_orlando_airport_orlando_fl

It states the work is on select guest rooms and public areas and should end by May 30.
And this is what I found on the Mariott website :
<<< Front desk, main entrance, restaurant, lounge, lobby, and guest rooms are under renovation March 30, 2007 through June 30, 2007. Construction is limited from 9 AM to 6 PM daily. >>>>

We spent one night there before starting our Easter Break. Got into MCO at 10:30 pm, used the courtesy phone near the luggage center to call to get picked up - they were there within 5 or 10 minutes - VERY fast. Check in was a breeze. Did notice the construction, but didn't bother us. Room was nice - very comfy beds, big, etc. We got up at 6:30 am, checked out and got a shuttle to MCO to pick up car and continue onto WDW. I got this cheap on Hotwire and was very pleased. The shuttle ran every 1/2 hour and was first come first served, but there were too many people for the first shuttle so they sent a second van with us. Basically we checked in, slept, checked out. Staff was nice, had coffee and comp USA Today in lobby for guests. We will definitely do this again if we have a late flight the night. We were very pleased.
