We will be doing park hopping and will be in HS first then going to Epcot, can I try to get in the virtual queue for the 1pm time slot from HS or do I have to be in Epcot? Thanks in advance.

You have to have entered Epcot prior to 1 pm in order to be eligible to try for a Remy VQ slot at 1 pm. Sorry.

Since you don't have a park pass for EPCOT, as noted, you would have to be in EPCOT. So you would need to hope that the BGs last after 2pm as the afternoon BG open at 1 pm as you can't park hop until 2 pm. Most days, that has not been an issue.
