Hello. I have tried to google this info, but I guess I'm not asking the right question.

The paint on our shutters has bleed/run onto the vinyl siding, leaving a faint paint smudge below each shutter. I hope I'm explaining this correctly. Any ideas how to remove this without damaging the siding?

DH is going to remove and repaint the shutters. Any idea how to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks!

I would try some type of vinyl / exterior cleaner and a scrub brush.

I understand what you're saying, almost akin to the way a rust stain runs.

I'm sure that you could find something at Lowes/Home Depot.

I'm pretty sure Windex sells an exterior siding cleaner, you hook on your hose, spray the area, scrub if you want and rise clean.

If all else fails, I've always had pretty good luck of taking a picture on my phone and taking it to Lowes/ Home Depot and explaining it to them, my stores have been pretty helpful.

the other thing you could try on a small test area, would rubbing alcohol and elbow grease.

I mean rubbing alcohol takes Sharpie off stuff, it could work.

Be sure to do a test patch first :goodvibes

thanks for the replies. Just to update - it came off with the power washer. I worried for nothing. So, there you go.

Thanks for the help.
