Does anyone know if the WDW restaurants will re-cork an opened, but unfinished bottle of wine to take back to your resort? I know that restaurants in our locale do this, but I also know that in some places it is against the law.

FL does have a "merlot-to-go" law that allows the restaurants to recork your bottle of wine so you can take the unfinished portion with you. IIRC they will put it in a bag and then staple the bag shut. Park entrance policies do not allow glass containers of any kind to enter the parks so keep that in mind if you're using Disney transport. (For example, if the bottle of wine came from a Boardwalk restaurant, but you're staying at Wilderness Lodge, you won't be able to cut through Epcot to get to the front entrance for the buses.)

Thanks for the complete response! I know when we do the Party for the Senses we cannot leave Epcot with any wine left in a glass, so I assume that is why they staple the bag shut.

People actualy don't finish a bottle of wine?!:drinking1

:rotfl2: I was thinking the exact same thing.

1) A few times we have left partial quart bottles of Ripple-Red or Ripple-White.
2) Maybe next time we will have it recapped-to-go.

That was my first thought, too! :rotfl:

It would be so nice if you could just bring your own box. :rotfl: :rotfl:

at least now, thanks to ImprovGal's response we can all take or leave anything we happen to be drinking that night! :lmao:

My DH is not a wine drinker and we are not travleing with our children who usually help me polish of a couple of bottles at dinner... :rolleyes1 It did occur to me that since we are going again during the F&W Festival that there might possibly be a night that I couldn't finish the whole thing all by myself. Better safe than smashed, I say! Thanks for the chuckles, everyone. :goodvibes

Have actually done this. DH ordered a bottle of wine which I really didn't like. So rather than him drinking it all himself and me having to carry him back to our room, a server at Narcoossee's bagged it up to go.

Did not know this was doable, good to know (also of the "there are people who don't finish wine?" camp). Thanks for the tip.

The botttle would be lighter!

I am glad to know this. I had assumed it would NOT have been the case since they won't let me leave with a plastic wine cup.

A little OT but has anyone priced if it is cheaper to buy a bottle then by the glass. My DH doesn't drink wine but I do and I wouldn't mind hauling back 1/2 (OK 1/3) a bottle to enjoy later on my balcony.:drinking1

If you park hop with the bottle, you can leave it at guest relations and then pick it up when you leave. We did that after buying a bottle at F&W and then going to MK. They will give you a ticket and you pick it up at the GR window until a certain time. If it's after that time (changes with park hours) you can pick it up at City Hall in MK. I don't know if it's the same for DHS and AK

Just remember if you are driving a car or taking a cab the wine must go in the trunk. Even with the bag stapled, it is still an open container and if you get pulled over, you will get busted for it. Trunk is perfectly OK since there is no access to the booze from the driver. I have done this with no problem.

Definitely cheaper to buy the bottle!

A couple of companies, put out an actual wine doggy bag that can be purchased that is more secure and protects against spillage better if the bag gets tipped over. I sold tons of them when I worked in the wine industry. Here is the link to one of them.
