I've been sitting at my computer for two days now looking at photos of Fort Wilderness, photos of tents and RVs, etc. And I've now realized that this is like when I was in 7th Grade and my parents signed me up for Summer Camp! I spent weeks looking at the brochure, then when the letter of admission arrived, I spend another month reading the "supplies needed" list over and over!

And Fort Wilderness LOOKS like a summer camp, with the horses, boats, etc. I can't wait to meet all my fellow campers!

I hope we don't have to take turns serving the meals in the cafeteria, like we did at Camp Ondessonk.

I hope you won't be disappointed, but you won't find a lot of people just sitting around the campsites with no agenda. Usually people are up and about ... going to the parks, to their activities, etc.

I do like that because the campground can be (not always) very quiet during the day. Oh so relaxing for those that choose to "stay behind" and enjoy the Fort during the day.

Like summer camp but in a good way. You're in charge of your own destiny. Yeah, there are similar activities but you decide when and what you do, eat and the like. I love Fort Wilderness. The cooking smells, the laid-back pace, the relaxed faces, the fireworks/campfire movie, etc. I've stayed at many of the different WDW resorts but prefer the Fort only. Thankfully with our TT/annual pass we can get our fill. :)

I'm not sure. I was in Florida just last week (Jacksonville...Yuck!). So it will be at least 3 or 4 weeks.

That's my only problem. I never know for sure, until 1-2 weeks ahead of time, where I need to be.

How difficult is it to reserve a campsite at the last minute during the Summer?

Oh, I was just kidding about "meeting all my fellow campers". I won't even be there until late at night myself. It's just that, looking at some of the photos, it really does remind me of a summer camp I attended as a kid.

No, I don't even plan to bring cooking supplies with me. The tent is just a place to crash at the end of my park-hopping day.

BTW, Michelle. I found out today that I'll need to be in Florida the week of July 14-18. So I'm going to see if I can camp on the night of the 18th & 19th.
