Just wanted to remind all you super-shoppers that the letter carriers' will be collecting non-perishables for their Stamp Out Hunger effort this Saturday. Place your donations in a bag and leave it by your mailbox for pick up by your carrier. Details here:

Thank you for this reminder!!!! Just so folks know, this is the largest one-day food drive in the nation!!! This will keep many food banks and pantries stocked up for the summer-traditionally a thin time of year for donations!

As a letter carrier, I'm excited to be picking up donations on Saturday! I want to see my truck FULL!!!

what a great idea! We're on a walking route (our mail carrier walks), is that going to be a problem for them? Having to carry a bunch of donations on top of the usual mail?

I walk. I either put it in my satchel and carry it on the loop, or if it's heavy or there is a lot, I set it by the curb and get it when I drive past. It's not a problem! I love getting tons of food and filling up the truck.

Thanks for the info, we've gotten the postcards for this in past years but never put out anything because I felt bad for our mail carrier having to fill his bag with cans. But herdtoDisney, your posts changed my mind--I also realized that our mail carrier parks his car just 4 houses away from us. So we'll go through our pantry and put out some non-perishables.
