I made a classic blunder….

Booked my flight at 8pm not 8am…..thankfully , after looking at it multiple time over the past few months, I noticed it.

Cost us a bunch to fix it. But its better than finding out at the airport departure day.

Just a friendly reminder to check your dates and times!

Oh, now that sounds like something I would do! We have several trips (non-disney) within a short space of time this summer and I just figured out today that I never booked a rental car for our trip next week to the other coast. How did I, the consummate planner, miss that?? Well, fortunately, like you, I discovered it before it was too late but I'm still wondering how I forgot the car.

Good advice to double check everything!

Very sound advice. Speaking from experience, if you live in an area accessible to 3 airports, double-check which airport you’re flying out of also 🤣. You could find yourself in the wrong airport with one hour to get yo the other airport that is 45 mins away. STRESSFUL!

Good advice!

I booked our flights in reverse once! I noticed it a couple hours later, thankfully, but what a dumb mistake to make! And yes, of course when they were fixed, the actual flights were a LOT more expensive!

I'm glad you were able to fix it! When I originally made my hotel plans for this trip I accidentally booked July instead of June. So you're right about double or triple checking reservations.

Also make sure you have the DEPARTURE time on your calendar as your start time, and not your ARRIVAL time. Imagine my consternation when I arrived at the airport in plenty of time for my flight, only to realize I'd put the arrival time in my calendar and I was over an hour late. This was in the late 1990s though and I was easily accommodated on another flight with no fees.

And make sure whatever documents you need are on hand and current. I’ve seen numerous stories of people who didn’t realize their passports had expired, couldn’t find their birth certificates (for closed-loop cruises), etc.

One time leaving LAX my husband forgot his drivers license and they let him use his Disneyland passport as his ID. I still can't believe they let him do that! And it's even more amazing that it worked on the way home, coming from Boston.

This was a LONG time ago, like 1999 or something.

omg. That is the stuff I am so scared will happen. I literally just checked our flight tickets and hotel reservation the other day to make sure the dates line up  I'm glad you caught it before you got to the airport!

A good reminder! This happened to me once. I went to check into my fight to find out I had accidentally booked it for a day earlier (so it had already left!). Expensive mistake at a time when I really couldn’t afford it. I’m very careful now.

My husband usually books the rental cars, because he gets a really good rate through work. I reminded him several times to book the cars for our June and July trips. He said he had done it. I asked again Friday night, just in case. He hadn't actually done it. Luckily, he was able to get them, especially since the June trip is in less than 2 weeks. Argh!

This is only funny because it worked out. Would have been a lot less humorous if you couldn't get a car!

Edited to add: the reason I discovered I'd not booked a car was because my husband asked me to send him the confirmation :rolleyes1
