Remembering extinct foods

Cute thread!

Anyone remember Funny Face Drink Mix? It was a Kool-Aid rip off in flavors like Choo Choo Cherry, Injun Orange, Goofy Grape & "With it" Watermelon. With enough proof of purchases, you could even order mugs that resembled the faces of the characters on the packets!

I remember these! Weren't they taken off the market because they used cyclamates? (You forgot Rootin' Tootin' Raspberry!)

I used to get something i think was called a wafflewich??? It was ice cream sandwiched in between two waffles....YUM! Kind of like the cookie ice cream sandwich. Those were sooooo good and i have not seen them since i was a teen. over 20 years ago! I also adored Jello pudding pops, especially the ice coating on the pop. Yum!!!!

We used to get these waffle sandwiches at Cedar Point. They would take a box of neopolitan icecream and cut it into slices, then put it between warm crispy waffles. I haven't been to CP in over 30 years, but I bet they still make them there!

I thought of three more...Bonomos Turkish Taffy :goodvibes , Red Dye #2 and Cyclamates mentioned above. :scared:

I also remember going to the penny candy store and buying ( unwrapped BTW) these little flying saucer thingies with little round candies inside. The saucer was like two convex communion wafers about the size of half dollars, and they would melt in your mouth leaving that gummy feeling from communion and the little candies.

ETA: I found a site to jog my memory:

Black Jack Taffy
Beeman's Gum
Chuckles
Tootsie Pop Drops
Astro pops-they were cone shaped suckers that you sucked on until it created a deadly weapon from sharpening the point with your tongue.
Tart N Tinies (little round sweetarts)
Wacky Wafers
Whistle Pops

I also was reminded of the candy lipstick I referred to in a PP. It wasn't in a case, it was a red long candy (2") with a gold foil and cellophane wrapper. Those were my favorite!

I also have a favorite Ben and Jerry's that is now in the graveyard. Wavy Gravy. I could eat the whole pint without even thinking.

Last I checked you can still buy Quisp and KaBoom cereal around here.

I totally forgot about those individually packaged drop in water banquet dinners. I used to live on the turkey ones, they were sooo good!

And ahhhh Mello Yello. I went to the World of Coca Cola a year ago in Atlanta and they have a Bigger version of the "cool" place at EPCOT at the end of the tour. They had Mello Yello. I went crazy drinking little cups of it. Everyone thought I was nuts bc they are in the South and its easy to get it there. LOL but we don't have it up North so. :rotfl2:

O.....M.....G..... I am sobbing right now for this ice cream. THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They really NEED to bring it back.

Back in '94 I had a miscarriage and when my friend (who lived on the other side of the state---2 1/2 hrs away) called and told me she was coming up to be with me, asked if she could get me anything. I told her a pint of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream from Ben & Jerry's. Well, 3 hours later, she came through the door with FIVE pints of it. I told her to go get 2 spoons and we would have a total ice cream fest. But she insisted that they were all for me. Gave me some really necessary comfort during that hard time. Thanks Mandy!!!

I will admit to sometimes eating an entire pint of both the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough flavor and the Half Baked flavor. Once I start, a switch flips in my head and I lose the ability to stop.

I loved it. With half-baked I can eat the whole pint in 1 sitting then go and buy more

amazon.com also has some of the things that you all are looking for.

There were some sort of large straws that you cut open and they contained powder that went into milk. I remember there being chocolate and strawberry. No idea what they were called...

How about the Double Lollies? They kind of looked like a Smartie on steroids that was put on a lollipop stick.

I miss Fudgetown Cookies. A LOT!
Also, some cookies that were plain vanilla and plain chocolate and had a happy face..not Giggles-Giggles were filled like an Oreo.

Mr. Salty- thin pretzel sticks-they used to come in a box, not a bag.

My mom used to pack me a Chocodile every day for lunch, but I used it to trade-I didn't like them, but it was worth a lot in an elementary school lunch room!

Hmmm, they used to sell those at our community pool's snack stand. They look like big sweet tarts with 2 different colors...:confused3 Anyways, they were pretty good.

Oh and Squeeze-It's...they were like liquid goo that you licked. Its a sticky-icky mess!

:hippie:

:scared1:You traded away Chocodiles?!?!? Chocodiles are E-Ticket snacks. Did you not realize what you were doing? Have you had your taste buds examined?

Why did I open this thread...

The only thing i could think of that I missed was a flavor of Kool Aid the disappeared from here. After a google search I have discovered I can buy it on Amazon! I will be placing an order soon...

(the Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade..)

For the PP who missed Coke with real sugar, try to find Mexican Coca-Cola on Amazon or at Sam's Club. They still make it with cane sugar.

I grew up in PA then moved to NH. In PA, there's a chip manufacturer named Herr's and they make the BEST salt and vinegar chips. None of the brands I can get here hold up. So, usually on my birthday, a friend of mine still in PA ships me a bag of them.

I also LOVE Cadberry creme eggs so it frustrates me I can only get them around Easter.

I would love to have the cinnamon version of S. W. Graham cereal again.

That's funny...I grew up in NH and moved to PA!!! :rotfl2: I have a bag of Herr's Salt and Vinegar chips in my pantry right now...they were b1g1 free at Weis last week! They are the kind of sour that makes you pucker up!

There are a lot of foods here that you can't get up there (my relatives still live up north)...Tastycakes being one!

As for a NH thing, I can remember my mom buying this bottle of coffee-flavored syrup that she would put in her milk. It was DISGUSTING!!!

I haven't read the whole thread, but I remember Mug-O-Lunch....anyone else remember these? I think it was macaroni and cheese, and you added boiling water and it cooked in the mug. This was before the microwave oven...:rolleyes1 (mid-1970's). It was one of the things I was allowed to make without my mother being around. The noodles never quite got soft, and the cheese sauce was kind of watery. :scared:

Pudding pops were Heaven on Earth to me as a kid.

Simply Heaven.

I was in middle school/high school when pudding pops came out. A family I babysat for always had them in their freezer. I think I ate one too many of them...I used to hide the wrapper and stick way down in the trash. :guilty: my mom wouldn't buy them because they were too expensive...:sad1:

I don't like the Hostess snack cakes-not the cupcakes, not the Twinkies, not the Chocodiles!
I was a TastyKakes kind of girl, I could eat those chocolate cupcakes all day long.
Oh and Drake's: Ring Dings, Yodels, Devil Dogs..remember when the Ring Dings and Yodels were wrapped individually in aluminum foil? And Yankee Doodles came in packs of 3.

I just remembered the Carnation instant breakfast bars. I hate the powdered gunk, but OMG I loved those bars growing up. Mom couldn't keep us stocked up on those things for long. Everyone in our family loved them.

OMG...I LOVED those things!! I have actually looked for those but had no such luck:confused3
