Hello people,

Remember when you could travel around some of WS in the double decker buses?

Might be 1996-1997?

Kinda recall getting on around the IG bridge and going toward Mexico and maybe Italy .... I think one bus was yellow w/ a WS sign on the side?

I do have a photo (somewhere) w/ a bus in the background.

Anyone else have any memories of the double decker buses?
Thanks,

Dude

My grandchildren grew up watching the old DW videos from the parks and on his first trip the double decker bus was what my oldest grandson wanted to see the most and to ride on it. They were down for refurbishment and have never been seen since. He still has not forgiven me. LOL

Yeap I remember the double decker buses, they were quite neat and a nice way to get to a country or back to the front if you were tired.

I think there were stops at every other country, inbetween the countries....if that makes sense...there was also a stop in the back near the International Gateway and in the front between the two stores.

There were a few different colors, red, yellow, green and blue I believe.

I'd imagine they probably stopped the buses for safety reason, as it was I don't think they ran all day, kind of like Main Street vechiles only running in the morning.

The bus they use for the characters is exactly the same type of bus but with the country signs.

I had forgotten about those, but now that I remember them, I did ride them which is why I thought I remember not being bothered by walking around so much the first time I went to Epcot. I do remember these, I wish they still had them, it sure would be nice to do, last visit we walked around the whole ws, we were going to ride the ferry but as soon as we went to get on someone was puking in the floor, so we got off in a hurry. It would be nice old addition to the Ws.

I remember them, too. They were a good way to get around WS when your feet were getting tired.

My guess is that the was too much liability since people tended to walk right in front of them all the time.

I remember them well! ::yes:: They were so neat, but I agree that liability was probably an issue.

Do you remember when they had people walking EPCOT World Showcase all day cleaning with a broom and dust pan dressed as the French Foreign Legion??? They are gone now, too. Maybe they left town on the buses..........

I remember them from our trip in either '83 or '85 because we have a picture of my mom on the top section, panicked because she's afraid the bus is going to drive off with her. But as the picture revealed, there wasn't even a person in the driver's seat. We tease her about it everytime we look at it.

The one thing I miss most about EPCOT was it being called EPCOT Center, and Figment was on everything. *Whips out old EPCOT center autograph book* : (

I am so glad they got rid of those buses! They were nothing but an intrusion upon a wonderful pedestrian walkway around the World Showcase. Tacky, tacky!:p

I loved those buses. My father and I rode them one time around and around. It was like a show. We sat in the front and listened to the driver and his comments about the people who refused to move out of his way. They changed drivers fairly often, probably because it was such a frustrating job.
