The thing about motorized scooters or ECVs is that the drivers using them are not always normal users so they often don't know the 'power' of the machine; how sensitive the go and stop functions are so I do not always fault them. There are a few who are just not considerate of everyone else around them.
If your child decides to run in front of a scooter (i'm talking perpendicular here) you shouldn't be mad at the scooter, you should be talking to your child. As in crossing a street, they need to check before crossing opposing traffic.
One thing many people don't realize is there are NO breaks on ECVs; they come to a rolling stop. It's a pretty quick stop, but it's not immediate. But then, even automobiles don't stop instantly and if one steps in front of a moving vehicle, one should expect to get hit by said vehicle.
What it really comes down to, in my opinion, is that we all need to pay attention to our surroundings and act accordingly. Instead of immediately jumping down someone's throat, take a moment, a breath, and talk it out. If you bump into someone, apologize. No big deal, a simple "sorry" and move on with your day.
I've had more issues with people on foot than with strollers and ECVs put together. It's the people that are the problem, not the method of transportation. Rude people are going to be rude no matter where they are. These are the same people who will take the parking space you've been patiently waiting for, the same ones who hit you with their shopping cart, or tell little Johnny to take the ball from your little guy because that's the one he wants. If they don't have manners at home, they will most certainly have no manners at Disneyland.
All we can really do is be sure that we are being the best people we can be. We can't control the behavior of others, but we can control our own. We have to realize that everyone makes mistakes and if we act with kindness, those mistakes can't ruin our trips.
