We have a 42" Magnavox plasma TV in our family room. The picture went out on Wednesday, July 21. We had sound but no picture. DH did the troubleshooting, and we even tried a DVD but still sound and no picture so he called about it as we had purchased the 3-year extended warranty for $59 from Target when we bought the TV.
The warranty was running out the following Tuesday! So they set up an appointment with us for a repairman to come out, which he did yesterday, the 30th. Had to move the set down to the floor, leaning against the couch for him to work on. He took the back off and started testing things. New parts are going to cost $350, and his estimated labor is $500!!
The parts will be delivered to our house but the repairman couldn't make an appointment with us to come back until August 11th.
It sure is hard to try and watch the tiny little 19" TV we had to bring in from the kitchen.
Especially if it's a movie in letterbox format! The screen is already teeny tiny, and then has black lines on top and bottom. We're pretty spoiled by the bigger screen and sure wish it wasn't taking so l-o-n-g to get it repaired. *sigh*
