Sadly she passed away Thursday night of a brain aneurysm.
She was a favorite singer of mine in the 80's when I was newly divorced and tearing up the town.

:( How sad. Funny thing is, I was just on my treadmill thinking about what celebrity would be next to die. Morbid, yes, but I collect autographs, so I kind of keep up on things like that.

Was Gloria her only hit?
Self Control was pretty big, too. Not as big as Gloria though. That was a great recording.

Sad to hear this news.:(

Are you kidding? I worked for a lite rock station during her heyday and she was on a constant rotation!

I'm so sorry to hear this... I loved her voice!

Wow, that's so shocking and so sad. :(

She also sang, "How am I Supposed to Live Without You", I believe, before Michael Bolton.

Edited to take out the smilie face! I didn't mean to smile, sorry about that! :(

Yes Saffron she did do "How am I Supposed to Live Without You". I think I loved that more than Gloria. Also, I think it was well done by Michael Bolton.

My DH has three of her Cd's! Sad!

They were playing Gloria over the speakers at USF this past week. After that song was "Africa" by Toto. -- we were joking about Universal was doing lite 80's tunes!

Oh no. I was just listening to her on XM radio '80s on 8 and it brought back some great memories.

Wow. That is so sad. "Gloria" reminds me of my freshman year in high school.

Does anyone know how old she was?

Here's a link to her official website:

I loved her voice. I loved the energy in "Gloria". So sad.

She was born on July 3, 1957 - Only 47 years old. :(

How awful!! My prayers go out to her family.

I loved her song, Gloria.......put it in my Top 10 in Blondie's thread a couple of weeks ago.

Lucky One was another single that was played heavily here...

That was more mid 1980's though.

Sad, very sad
