Remaining Balance at Resort

Those magicbands are great but boy you can sure forget you are really spending money. To prevent us from having issues and falling into charging everything all our spending money for everything but tips we have on Disney gift cards. We still take "emergency cash" and have our CC just in case but the rule is not to use either.

I was under the impression that the value resorts charged your card (cc or debit) every $300-$500.

You need to log-in to your on-line banking so you know how far in the red you are. If you have overdraft protection they will let you go negative, but you will accrue a lot of fees (daily and per transaction).

I think the best suggestion on this thread is to open up one of the Disney Visas (if you are eligible) from one of the stands around WDW (I remember there being one in Liberty Square by the riverboat dock) and paying your balance with that. Then when you get home pay it off right away!

This is what I think will happen: Disney will try to settle at night on your last day. When the card is declined, they won't contact you or send you the itemized bill. Instead it will get caught in auditing where it is sent to a collections agency. In about 3 weeks you will see a bill that doesn't have any Disney branding on it. No itemized bill.

Disney actually will contact you about a declined card. I had a card declined during our CR stay (because I'd forgotten to change the card number on my MDE account after a fraud-related card reissue). The front desk called, and I quickly remembered that I hadn't updated the card, and got it straightened out. So they do contact the guest before just sending things to collections.

Ok, so not to thread-hijack...but what about the reverse situation?

What if you had a credit of $500...spent only $400 on during your vacation and you had a credit of $100 on your hotel ressie? Do they refund it to your credit card? Do you get a Disney gift card for $100?

TIA

You can't hold a credit on your account - Disney won't allow it

My bad...you're right. Just got off the phone with Guest Services...takes 7-10 days to show up on the credit card you used.

It's strange, because when I changed the resort reservation....it specifically states that you now have a credit of $xxxx on your hotel reservation. Nothing about a refund back to your credit card in 7-10days.

Oh well, good to know in the future!
Thanks.
