Three years ago we moved to Lake Mary which is north of Orlando. For thirty day training period, we had to rent a furnish apartment including internet, phone service, and utilies, for $3,000. It was next to the office complex. Next, we spent a week at Residents Inn ($1,000 per week) at Atlamonte Springs then sign a lease for an unfurnished apartment for one year at Lake Mary. Just a note - we had only 11 days to move. You might pay $100 per day as a rate.
You might arrange for a short term lease or sub lease from somebody.
Short Answere- Ask DVC - they will surely have posting of places to rent on an employes web site bulleten board somewhere.
If I had to do this again -
A. Furnishings
1- Costco purchase a very good bed and a living room couch.
2- south of Haines City is MouseSurplus. Furnishing from Disney resort properties.
Must call for directions, not well marked but I could drive there today with no problems. [ right at the bank, right after the rail road tracks]
They have a huge collection of items. It is a massive building with two areas. One thing -the parking lot is very dusty, not paved.
We rented a truck, purchased kitchen tables / chairs, dresser, night tables, several lamps, and a great floor lamp (Ft. Wilderness Lodge), living room chairs, and a great Contemporary abstract design table. We purchased coffee mugs from Kona Cafe, placemats for the table, ice bucket, bed spreads used to rap items, ironing board, TV set, ect. ect. There was even some patio furniture. We just walked around and shopped for anything we needed.
Why - the price was right. Used - but you could pick the best in the group. One trip and one day for a rental truck. You will pay so much more when purchasing from main street funiture stores or merchandise stores.
As time goes by you can purchase furnishing at your leasure.
The cost to move furniture to Orlando from Ohio will be exstreme. Just bring for favorite items that you can't part with. One personal bank told us they moved from Michigan and they spent $10k.
