I think I am trying to understand what you are saying, but A Christian has something to fall back on. They have something in there heart whether it be right or wrong to stand by. As for someone who is never believed in anything what do they stand on, just not believing for the sake of not believing? There has to be more there. I am not saying I know that answer, but a person has to have some reasoning during their lifetime of why they exist.

Athiests that I know say that science has proven that God did not do all that the Bible claims He did, so no God exists. They base their beliefs on science.

It would definitely take a lot of thinking. I think a lot of people have something bad happen to them and then say "God wasn't there for me" or "How could God let this happen" so they just don't believe anymore. But those people honestly probably didn't have very strong faith to begin with. I feel like I've gone through a lot in my life (divorce, all grandparents dying, my dad having cancer, not being close to my dad because he is bipolar) and I wonder why is all of THIS happening to ME? But then I just think that I have a nice home, a good mom, and there are so many people who have it much worse so I don't think God is punishing me. I think true punishment comes after death though bad circumstances might fall on bad people during their life.

Sorry for rambling haha.

Yeah, I see how people could think that. But then I see the opposite and I turn to God for guidance instead of say...blaming Him for stuff? I'm sorry, you sound like you've been through a lot  But like you said, it's good to see the blessings you have in your life rather than what's going wrong you know? It's okay, I like hearing what you have to say :)

I don't think anyone can make a proper religious affiliation or debate it properly until they're 18+. You always hear middle school aged kids or early high schoolers saying "Oh I'm athiest woooooo" not really even knowing what it means but only saying it because other people are. I know my views on everything changed drastically from 6th grade to now.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I just don't think you should tell someone else what is right and wrong.

So until a person is 18 they can't think for themselves? Yeah right. I'm 15 and know very well what my beliefs are. Yeah some may be immature and impressionable, but not all are. I've seen a few things in my day, and then to be told I shouldn't make a proper religious affiliation or debate is insulting.

Don't lump one group with another, we are totally different.
And yes, this offended me too Katie.

So they do then stand on some sort of belief system then I guess.

Aw thanks. It seems like a lot when I am stressed over something else and just having a pity party crying saying "why me?!!" but then I think about it and usually my mom tells me too that there are so many who have it much worse...and it's true. Instead of sulking over my grandparents being gone I think of the good times and try to thank God for letting me know and have them for as long as I did.

I guess it doesn't matter because I'm going to get ganged up on and this conversation could last forever; So I'm going to go have a cupcake and play Guitar Hero with my fella.

Read my after posts please.

Don't assume I didn't. Your original post said that if we're under 18 we shouldn't be allowed to form proper decisions about religion. Someone brought up the idea of maturity and you said thats what you meant.

Don't think that everyone under 18 is immature and impressionable, most of us aren't. Don't lump two groups together, they are totally different.

Sorry, but it gets me when people say "Ohh, all teens are immature/impressionable/stupid/whatnot." Most of us aren't, I could bet you I am more mature from going thru cancer than some adults.

That makes me think of the Footsteps in the sand story/poem, whatever.

And,
You've been through a lot.

::yes:: Exactly. And it's another blessing that there's someone you can always turn to no matter what you know. Some people don't have that.

You can't say most of us when you don't know every teen. I said shouldn't but I didn't really mean it. Haven't you ever been at a loss for words? You don't know what I did and did not mean so don't put words in my mouth.

Going through cancer makes you more mature because you had to deal with an adult situation, such as facing the possibility of death. Most people usually don't deal with that until they are much older.

And trust me, where I work I have seen some of the dumbest people who are full grown adults. Seriously, a three year old would probably have more common sense than some of these people.

I have no religion. I have a set of beliefs, but no religion.

I believe in evolution and the big bang... Although I think some sort of higher power caused it.

I believe in a higher power.

I believe in souls and that every living animal has one.

I believe in reincarnation.

I believe in a heaven-like place your soul goes to inbetween lives.

I believe that you can remember bits and pieces of past lives, and that your personality stays the same, as does your gender.

I believe that you can be reincarnated as any type of animal... Not just like a human can only be a human.

Yep. I'm very lucky and blessed that I have a mom that is ALWAYS there for me.

Yes and not everyone matures. It varies from place to place and the people you know.

I believe this too.

That is true. It's also true that some people are just plain idiots. :lmao:

(sorry didn't mean to offend anyone, but I have seen idiots!!! no other way to describe them!)

I love talking to animals. There's this cat who comes around a lot. We named him Roger. I believe he listens to me.

Yes! I love my dogs so much and I talk to them. They love me no matter what and never judge me. Animals (and babies) have such pure love, how could they not have souls?

No, I think we all know some of them:rotfl:
