I'm a relatively new DVC member, and purchased VWL points primarily for Christmastime vacations. Today was my first time making reservations at the 11 month mark, and knowing from reading these boards what a popular time of year this is for DVCers, had the probably irrational fear that I would somehow not be able to get the reservation I wanted (a 1BR at VWL arriving the Sunday after Thanksgiving). So there I was on the phone with Member Services at 9AM, and the phone seemed to just ring, and ring, and ring, and ring... I had already been through two user menus, so I knew I had called the correct number. I was scared to hang up thinking I'd lose my place in the queue, but FINALLY, someone answered. Long story short, got my reservation with no problem. As I said, all this fear was probably irrational on my part, but still I am SO glad everything's set

I was worried too with the new booking process. I was also able to get what I wanted this morning. BWV standard view studio for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. No problem, got right through at 9 AM. I am SOOO happy!!

If you're willing to call when MS opens exactly at the 11-month window, I think that you should never have to worry about not getting the reservation that you're looking for.

I think the real test of the new reservation system will come in January when December 2009 reservations start. I've heard cases where BWV sold out very quick for New Years Eve. The difference this year will be people can start booking 12/31 on 1/25 for stays starting 12/25.

Congratulations! We love VWL any season, but it's especially beautiful at the holiday time. You'll feel so good when the posts about wait-listing for Dec start appearing. It's gotten so popular in the last few years. If there's ANY possibility we might go in December, I always make the reservation early. It can always be cancelled if those plans don't develop.

I did the same thing since I got blocked out of Animal Kingdom this December. On the phone w/ member services at exactly 9am, got right through and got a dedicated 2bdrm, savanna view in Kidani. for 11-29-09 to 12-5-09


and the planning begins ...................
