Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

Favorite childhood memory? Most of my memories involve being there with my grandparents (who are all gone now) so those are special times. If I had to pick 1 specific memory, I'd have to go with my grandpa taking me on BTMRR, my first rollercoaster ride ever! He hadn't been feeling great for part of the day and my Mom tried telling him he didn't have to take me but he had promised and he took me anyway

That is so sweet. Aren't grandpas just the best!?

Hurray for the teens!!! Seeing that you are leaving on September 18 makes me realize that I better start getting my act together for Connor's birthday on the 19th. I guess I was thinking it was much farther away than it really is!
Things like that happen to me all the time. All of a sudden, something that I thought was months away, is next week!
Love the childhood memories! I remember you talking about that horrible trip when you had the chicken pox. Weren't you staying at Fort Wilderness?

My favorite memory was on our trip in 1987. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort, and it was my brother's first trip to WDW (he would have been about ten months old). Anyway, one night my mom stayed at the resort with my brother, and my dad and I took the monorail over to the MK for the evening. I remember riding 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and eating root beer floats with him in Fantasyland. It was so much fun!
Awwww, I think it's so cool to hear about special moments with one kid/one parent like that. I don't remember anything like that. :(

I can't have any special childhood memories of WDW - I didn't get to go until I was 29!! But I did go to DL in high school and remember riding the Materhorn and Space Mountain with my brother. SM was so frightening to me - flying around in the dark freaked me out!!! Have never done it since.
I went to DL when I was 2 and have no recollection, but have seen a few pictures.
One of my favorite memories of WDW when we first took our kids, they were almost 3 and almost 1 (both free!). We were sitting in a covered patio eating area (I think it was where Ariel's grotto is now- or was recently) and having a snack. These birds were flying all around looking for food and the girls were just running around, chasing them away. My parents were with us and my dad just sat there grinning and laughing at the kids. We have video and Sarah is singing and running. It's really cute. We took a lot of video that trip - we don't do that much anymore.

I rode that once, believe it or not.

My memory is nowhere near as sweet as yours! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Rootbeer floats, however - those do make for good memories. :)

I hope Brooklynn and Bella will look back on having good memories with me at Disney World long after I am gone. :lovestruc

Hi!

Hurrah for the teens. I know it is going by unbelievably slowly for you but, if any consolation, it is going by super fast for me!

Favorite childhood memory. Oh boy, that is tough. I remember a Chef Mickey's dinner when it was actually in Downtown Disney and remember Mickey in his chef garb coming to our table.

But I think my most favorite memory is a visit as an awkward pre-teen/teen. This was still the age when character interactions were un-planned (e.g. no lines/queues aka mass hysteria and your character pics had random people in them). Out of nowhere the "lion king" from Bed Knobs & Broomsticks came out and picked me to dance with him. For a geeky, awkward girl to be picked like that was pretty cool. Disney magic. :goodvibes

Definitely going on PoTC with my grandma, eating a frozen banana with her, and her letting my buy a Snow White coloring book on the way out of the park. I colored in that book for the rest of that week-long stay with her, and to this very day, PoTC is my favorite ride!!

I finally got through all of your updates. Yeah!! Your trip sounds great. It sure has changed but it wouldn't be a LL trip without that. I'm so happy for you guys. And Poly, woo hoo! I'm back for good, baby!!

Anyway, I have been listening to a lot of Disney World podcasts and today I listened to one about the top 10 things in Liberty Square. Well the Liberty Belle was something we always did at twilight. When we got on it was still light and then it would start to get dark as we rode along. It was such a nice wind down to the day. We would get off and people would start lining up for the parade and fireworks. You could feel the crowd switch over from go, go, go to anticipation of something cool coming your way. Anyway, I always loved that and have not been on it in years and years and vow to again this trip!

Just wait til you see how many dancers you get for single digit! That will be a big party!!!
Woo Hoo!!

I have a lot of childhood memories from Disney, but one of my favorites should come as no surprise. I was a girly girl, and the very first time my parents took me to Disney, they bought me a beautiful Alice in Wonderland (costume) dress as a souvie. I remember that dress so distinctly. I wore it on the trip and when we got home, and since I had long hair and bangs, and my mom always put ribbons in my hair, she was able to style my hair just like Alice, even if I was a brunette instead of blonde. :goodvibes
Aww, I bet you made a really cute Alice!

WOOT WOOT!! We're in the TEENS Dancing!! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

My favorite childhood memory at Disney, was when my dad took me for my 10th birthday. We went to EPCOT for the day and it was a bit rainy that day, so we had the whole park to ourselves, and I mean to ourselves LOL!! I remember they had a bus full of characters that stopped and all got off to dance and meet me!! It was a great moment, me with 20 characters all to myself LOL!
I like being in the teens for a countdown but I never want to go back to my teen years. :rotfl2:

How cool is that!! I've seen pictures of that old character bus, it looks like it was really neat.

WOW Meghan! I can't believe your family won a trip to WDW!:yay: That is so cool! And your poor lil sis!!!!! :(

LL, yay for teens!!!!!!!:dance3:
Yayayaya!!

:yay:

Yay for the teens!

I went to Walt Disney World in 1971 as a teenager. We skipped school to go. :thumbsup2
We had the ticket books. It was the coolest place ever!

We may be doing Hoop De Doo next summer. :)
You always find the best smilies!

Always a wonderful thing to skip school to do something fun...or should I not admit that among so many teachers??

According to Marc you will LOVE Hoop De Doo, he wants to go so bad. I'm the mean wife and don't want too.

Teen Dancing! Woo-hoo!

:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:  :cool1:

Hmmmm, I don't have a favorite childhood memory because I simply don't remember my trip as a young teen (other than my mom let us sleep in the morning we were supposed to go watch the Space Shuttle launch and I was soooooo mad!!) so I'll go with door #2 and pick a favorite memory from our first family trip.

The first ADR we had was an early dinner at Crystal Palace on our first day in WDW and our first day in MK. Pooh Bear stole Demetri's bunny and giggled when Ariana snuggled him, Tigger bounced with Alex and gave Demetri a high five and Piglet was my new best buddy because I was wearing a pink striped shirt.
Awww, that is a good memory.

My favorite memory was when we took Megan, Keeley and Baylor for the first time and the Tweedles gave the girls flowers that they had picked by the teacups. All the while Baylor was hiding behind a trashcan because he was afraid of them.
:rotfl: That is too cute!!
Teen dancing!!:rockband:party:party:party:
Enjoy your weekend!!!
Yayayayaya!!

:dance:cool1::dance:

I love teen dancing!!!

My favorite childhood memory was from the trip I took when I was 8. We were at MK for a day. I remember being in the Haunted Mansion and we had 3 in our Doom Buggy. In the scene where the ghost hitches a ride with you, he ended up sitting on my brother's lap. We all thought it was the funniest thing ever!
I loved the Haunted Mansion when I was younger. I still get a thrill out of seeing which ghost joins you in your doom buggy.

I love all your pictures for teen dancing!

My first trip was my Disneymoon so...I think my favorite memory from that trip was being in the Jamin' Jungle Parade at AK. We happened to be in the right spot at the right time and were selected to ride on Rafiki's float! We had so much fun!
That must have been such a wonderful memory, ESPECIALLY on your Disneymoon!

Hooray for Teens!!!!
:cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo:

No, not Ft. Wilderness. We were at The Yogi Bear Jellystone campground somewhere in Orlando.

I love those special memories with just one parent. They are really nice to have. :goodvibes

I'm really having a hard time picking one favorite childhood memory, so I'm going to cheat a little and say eating at Cinderella Castle which was a tradition for us for about 6 years while I was a kid. Getting to eat at the restauraunt (which was "King Stephan's Banquet Ball" at the time and not "Cinderella's Royal Table") and meeting Cinderella there was always a highlight of the trip. I think that I still have some old reservation cards and maybe some old kid's menus somewhere.
Very good childhood memories. I think a lot of DISers have memories from King Stephan's.

That is so sweet. Aren't grandpas just the best!?

Ya-hooty for being in the teens!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Kathy
Yayayayayayayaya!! 5 more days and we are out of the teens.

Woo Hoo! Welcome Back!!

What a great memory and a great idea for winding down your Disney day. :thumbsup2

********************************************************

I apologize for the lack of update yesterday. Honestly, I just wasn't feeling like updating. I promise I will today, I even took pictures of costumes for you. I still have a few things to photograph and then I will do an update later today. :goodvibes

Oh my, I'm still having trouble picking a childhood memory! That whole trip, at least to me, was magical!

But, I'm going to pick just for you! I'm picking riding the skyway! I remember riding in the bucket above MK, feeling a breeze in my face, looking at all the sights, seeing the people below and thinking that this was the most fun ever and that this places was unbelievable! :cloud9:

Morning, LL! :teeth: My favorite memory is from my first trip, when I took the girls. We had just left Tony's and was unsure of what to do next (I admit it I had no plans  ) and the dreams come true parade was going on. I got teary eyed because I had never thought that I would ever be able to take my girls to Disney and here I was in MK watching a parade.

What a great memory. I remember riding the skyway with my Dad when we went. I loved it. My mom doesn't do heights and I think she took my brother to get something to drink so Dad and I rode. I'm still sad that they closed it.

Good Morning! Another great memory. I have loved reading them all!! :goodvibes

WOW!! How cool that you actually won one of those contests! I often wonder if anyone wins. :rotfl2: I'm happy to hear that you did, how cool is that!!!

Oh, your poor sister. It's not fun when things like that happen but especially when you are at Disney. I'm glad everything worked out though. :goodvibes

We couldn't believe that we won that trip! My mom didn't believe it until we sent the bottle cap in and then they sent us a "Congratulations" letter!!! Another thing about that story....My older sis was 17 at the time and a HS cheerleader. She had brought that 2-liter of Coke to her end of the year cheerleading party. Well, they ended up not opening so she brought it back home with her!!!! How crazy is that?!

17 days - YEAH!!

Favorite childhood memory (great topic!) - I went with my parents when I was 5 -while on PoC my dad telling me to hold onto my minnie mouse hat, as we went down the little "drop", so it didn't fly off my head! LOL....

Whew, I'm finally caught back up!

Congrats on reaching the teens and for booking the Poly! It is my dream resort for someday.

Okay now to get up to date. I wrote all my answers down as I read them

Favorite WS country- United Kingdom. I love all the cute shops, characters and entertainment. My favorite entertainment being the World Showcase Players.

Favorite Fireworks- Wishes. Since I haven't seen any of the specials ones I have to go with this one. It always brings a tear to my eyes.

Best Character Interaction-Drizella from our 1900 Park Fare meal in Feb. She was such a hoot.

Best Appetizer-We did the dining plan for the first time in 2007 and the app was included. I'm going to go with the captain crunch chicken at Planet Hollywood.

Didn't live up to the hype-Space Mountain rehab, I still think it's very bumpy.

Under rated attraction-The live entertainment in the World Showcase.

Favorite Dump shop-Pirates, there is just so much cool stuff to look at.

Most Romantic-DH and I took a couple only weekend trip in March of 2002. He had won 2 nights hotel and round trip tickets on SW to anywhere but there was a budget on what you could spend. He had never been to Disney and after pricing it out against Las Vegas he booked Disney. Of course he was hooked and is now my partner in crime. We had a great time just the two of us. We had our very first TS meal at the Coral Reef. It was fabulous, we had a table for 2 right next to the glass.

Best Bread-pretzel bread at Le Cellier

Main Course-again Le Cellier the Mushroom Filet

Favorite Animatronic-The whole Splash Mountain ride. There is just so much to see.

Cheesy Ride-Stitch!

Favorite Character Meal-Dinner at 1900 Park Fare

Favorite breakfast- We really haven't done many breakfasts so I'm going to go with Princess Storybook Dining. We really like the food and getting into Epcot while it was empty.

Childhood Memory-My first trip was when I was a Sophmore in High School. I went with the choir. My favorite memory from the trip was taking the dressed up portrait somewhere on Main Street. I did it with my soon to be boyfriend. I ended up looking like Mary Poppins and he looked like Dr. Doolittle(very tall hat). I had always wanted to take a dress up pictures and what better place to do it.

Now I'm caught up.

Oh, the Skyway! I remember going when I was 21 (it had probably been 8 or 9 yeas since going before that) and looking all over and asking cast members and still not believing that it was gone.

16 days!! Woot Woot!

I'm very excited. Sorry about the lack of updates this weekend. By the time I uploaded the photos last night my computer decided it was ready to go to bed.

I'm not going to go back and do countdowns for the weekend. I am just going to do todays, share some news and show you the costume pictures finally.

Moment/Thing We are Most Looking Forward Too.

Marc - Going to Animal Kingdom.

He's never been, likes to remind me all the time how we didn't go in 2008. Oh well, he will see it very soon.

Leslie - Walking on Main Street in Magic Kingdom.

When I step out on Main Street, I just have this feeling of peace and happiness wash over me. I can't wait for that moment.

Yesterday I made changes to our trip....again. 17 days out. Can you believe that? I can't.

It all started with Marc & I discussing the purchase of an Annual Pass for me, since I am going in January and we are hoping to squeeze in a late summer trip next year. I told Marc he wouldn't have to buy me a Birthday present which always appeals to him. Then Marc pointed out if we skipped staying at the Polynesian then we could pay for my AP and still have money left over with the money we already have set aside for my park ticket. It was tempting. So I thought about it. I called Disney twice checking out AP rates for other deluxe resorts and the Poly, trying to figure otu what I wanted to do. Marc of course left the decision to me...like always. He said the Poly isn't going anywhere and if it means a longer January trip and a possible August trip...well it's worth it to me to put off staying at the Poly.

So I called Disney, asked a few more questions and canceled the reservation at the Poly in favor for......

.....2 nights at Riverside. :rotfl2:

So that's right, we are staying at Riverside for all 7 nights. It's even going to be cheaper now because before I could only get a waterview for the 7 nights, now we have a standard view. It's a great price and now I can be an AP holder for a year. I am very excited. I think we will also be purchasing the Tables in Wonderland card for a discount on food.

I'm very happy with our decision and I'm not even upset about losing the 2 nights at the Poly. It's not going anywhere, we will stay there someday. :thumbsup2

Now, would you like to see some costume pictures?

DSC00202.jpg

My shoes and scarf. I haven't decided if I'm going to wear the scarf in my hair or around my neck yet.

DSC00203.jpg

My skirt! I love it.

DSC00204.jpg

The black polo shirt I'm wearing with my skirt.

DSC00206.jpg

The front of Marc's bowling shirt. I love that it's embroidered.

DSC00205.jpg

The back. I love it! I think he will look really good.

Last but not least is my tie dye Mickey shirt that the lovely Tarzanskat made for me. If you like it, PM her. She's very talented. She also made Jen & I's long sleeve tees last January.

16 days until Disney!!

16 days!! Woot Woot!

Woo Hoo! :woohoo:

:rotfl: Only because it's you!

Sounds like a great plan. :)

I love the costumes. The two of you are going to look great!

I was thinking of your last question, and was finding it really tough to pick a favorite childhood moment at Disney. I think I'd have to go with my first trip to Disney. We were staying at the Poly. My Aunt came with us that trip, she must have been about 18 years old or so. Every night she'd get my brother and I all hopped up and we'd be dancing around the room dancing on the beds. I'm sure my parents weren't as excited about that, but we had a blast.

In the parks it would have to be watching the MSEP for the first time. I can't wait to see it again!
