Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

Whew, you have been busy. I was behind, all caught up now!!

First I love your book bag, what brand is it? I think I need to go on the hunt for one!

Love your countdown you made for Marc, that will be a fun way for you two to share the excitement!

Glad to hear school was not too bad, and 14 months will fly right by!

Now, look at the bottom of my post....

:eek:I have no countdown calendar???

Yep, I am going to have to live completely through your PTR and TR for now. We went in August last year and to be honest it was my least favorite time. So the more I thought about it the less excited I was about going back in August!

I really had my heart set on going back in December and due to my sons crazy school schedule next year we had to cancel.

So, I am going to cancel the August trip and I am looking at some all inclusive resorts in Mexico and Costa Rica for August. So, I am sad about Disney, but also excited about trying something new!!:beach:

Oh boo. :sad2:

Glad to hear it went well, even if it was different than expected. :goodvibes
Thank you!

Hey LL,

Trying to catch up on my subscriptions!

sounds like you have some fun thoughts for your trip! I love the look of POR so I'm excited to hear how you like it.

My 2-cents for the room question...I think generally free dining is the better deal for families, I'm not sure the price difference will be a big difference. Like others have said, I think you need to decide if the DDP will be the way you want to eat. If you would rather have appetizers than dessert, don't want to be tied to a TS each day or would rather do a lot of eating at F&W, then a room-only discount is probaly the better choice. It will just mean that you need to consider food in your planning budget.

When I did online check-in, I don't remember seeing a place for specific room requests, I think you are best noting it now on your ressie then sending a FAX a week before you arrive.
I think I rather not have the Dining Plan. I like the flexibility.

I have never faxed a room request before. You do it about a week before and just state what kind of room you would like??

Glad to hear that your first night went well!
Thanks!

LL,
I thought about you last night. I'm sorry it isn't what you thought, but you are on your way, now! Like everyone said, 14 months isn't too long!! You'll be a great Medicial Assistant, too! :thumbsup2
Thank you! I feel much better today...although the homework was a real eye opener tonight.

What about putting your food budget on a Disney gift card? Didn't you do just that for your last trip with Jen? In that way it is already paid for and if you manage to use less you have some souvenir money left over. :goodvibes
I did use the gift card last time. Maybe I'll do that again. Much easier that way. :thumbsup2

Boooooooo to no Disney. :sad2: But if you are happy with your decision then I am happy for you! :goodvibes

Double boo.

So the school situation has been worked out. I have my schedule all the way into October.

Do you know what that means?

Yep.

We have to move our Disney trip.

I have a final on 9/16 and then the next week when we would have be gone is the start of a new class. I don't want to miss the start of a class or the Saturday double session of that week.

I priced out trips going into October and they were too expensive.

I tried to make it work for the week after but that just didn't work either.

So I've decided to change to September 1 - 8.

I'll be in Disney for my 28th Birthday.

Woo Hoo!

We went that week in 2008 and the crowds did not bother us.

I was able to get all of our reservations that we had before (still have to cancel the old ones...UGH) so I'm happy about that. I'm still working out all of the details of the new itinerary.

I priced out Free Dining vs. Room Only Discount today. I think for us it makes sense to do the Room Only Discount. I like having the flexibility to eat appetizers instead of entrees if we feel like it. Or splitting entrees even. I like that the last two trips with Jen, I've been able to order whatever I want. Money wise it comes out about evenly with Free Dining give or take $100 or so dollars in favor of room only. I'm happy with that. Plus we don't have the pressure of that 45 day payment deadline, I hate that thing.

I'm going to book the room only on Friday, so let's all cross our fingers that Riverside will be available and I don't have to have a Disney breakdown on the phone. I'm very excited to finally answer "We're Celebrating my Birthday" when they ask me what we are celebrating. I always feel like I'm disappointing the CM when I tell them we aren't celebrating anything.

112 days until Disney! Whew, this countdown is flying by. ;) :rotfl2:

I am glad you got the schedule and it still works for your vacation. How exciting to celebrate your birthday in WDW... the actual day non the less! And to get the meals.... here is some:wizard: to get Riverside too!

I'm really excited for you! School did throw a wrench in the works, but you rolled with it and were still able to come up with a trip you're happy with.

I figured the room only would be a better fit for you, just because I know the more people you have in a room, the more it makes sense to do free dining, but for just two it comes to a you save / break even status depending on where you want to eat. And yes, the freedom to order appetizers instead of entrees or splitting entrees should you chooose will be really nice.

I dream of a trip like that, but when I priced things out, my family came out better by doing free dining. :lmao:

I'm pretty excited that I get to celebrate my Birthday in Disney again. I had fun in 2008. There is just something so magical about being there on your actual birthday.

Yes, school did throw a wrench in the mix but I worked through it. I'm trying not to sweat the small stuff.

I'm going to revel in room only discounts for a few more years.

I am glad that you still get to go, and for your birthday even!! Hope you can get the room you want!!

A birthday celebration at Disney sounds fantastic! I am glad you didn't let anything keep you from Disney. You deserve a wonderful vacation.

LESLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now we're going to be there at the same time!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Is there a possible way to set up a Meet with you?? We'll be a Riverside starting the night of 8th, but at the POP from 2-4, and the POLY the nights of the 5-7!!!!! This presents some seriously exciting possibilties!!!

Yes, school did throw a wrench in the mix but I worked through it. I'm trying not to sweat the small stuff.

Trust me, sweating the small stuff is just not worth it.

I love a good room only discount! :lmao: Actually, when I went in January with Mom, she got a passholder rate on the Grand Floridian and it was about 45% off! It made the GF about the same price as rack rate at the WL.

Plus, I really do love the freedom to eat wherever and not be so tied down to the limitations of the dining plan.

And I forgot you'll be having your birthday there! You'll have to let us know what special plans you come up with. :goodvibes

Congrats on getting to spend your birthday in Disney! I had been hopeful that I'd get to do that this year, but the 1/2 marathon had other plans. How magical to be there on your actual birthday. :)

Too funny about moving your vacation because of school....I had to move ours too because of school for Liam and now we are going for my birthday! What a quwinkie-dink!

I was able to get EVERYTHING and an even better time for one ADR that I'm very happy about. :goodvibes

Nice. :)

I didn't realize you had started this, since we were gone for our long weekend trip.
Sorry. :flower3:
That's okay! I missed your whole October trip and just caught up over the weekend. :lmao:

YAY for new plans that work!! I'm very excited for you!! It is a very special thing to be at Disney for your birthday, you'll be treated like the princess you are!! YAY!!

It is a special thing to be at Disney for your Birthday. I think my 26th Birthday has been by far my best one since it was spent at Disney.

Oh, I'm so glad your ADRs worked out! And the crowd level should be fantastic at that time!

Hooray for a Disney Birthday!! :cheer2:

I will try to catch up on your PTR. :goodvibes The crowd level in 2008 was awesome. Much better than May and January was probably only just a bit better than September crowd wise but not by much.

I am glad that you still get to go, and for your birthday even!! Hope you can get the room you want!!
Yes, a Birthday trip to Disney staying at Riverside in a Mansion room will be so awesome. Let's just hope that Mansion room part comes true!

Thank you! It stinks moving the dates around but I think it will work out with my school schedule nicely. :goodvibes

That is so cool!! Wow, you are a resort hoppping fool, eh? :rotfl: We will have to work something out for a meet. :thumbsup2
Hurray for a birthday trip!!!

Were you able to get the same ADRs or did you have to change some?
I got every single ADR that we had before. I just had to change the park schedule and the days we were going but that isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of thigns.

Fingers crossed Riverside is available for you! How's the new itinerary coming? :rotfl:
It's all done! I'm sure you aren't surprised. :rotfl:

Gotta love those room only discounts. They just make sense for us right now.

Yes, my SECOND Birthday in Disney. I'm truly lucky. I think our next Disney trip is going to be in celebration of my 30th Birthday depending on when the Fantasyland expansion is done. That is when I want our next trip to be.

Congrats on getting to spend your birthday in Disney! I had been hopeful that I'd get to do that this year, but the 1/2 marathon had other plans. How magical to be there on your actual birthday. :)
It truly is! :goodvibes
