We are staying at the BWV in a little overa one month. One of my family members at WDW right now infomred me that the entire "parking lot side" of the BWV is covered in plastic.

1) Does anyone have any info as to when this may be completed?

2) Doesn't that mean that the only "views" left are "water views"? (This would be a good thing in my eyes). Either looking at the Beach/Yacht Club, the pool, or the waterway to MGM.

Thanks

At the annual meeting for BWV DVC members, the General Manager said that the rehab was scheduled to complete in September, 2003. His team was hoping to "expedite" the remaining work, though, and if they were successful, the work would be completed in August, 2003. The rehab has been going on for about two years.

I believe there are some standard view rooms near the tennis courts that were rehabbed earlier in the project. Other than that, yes, you would be correct.

If you are not a DVC member or renting points for a standard view from a DVC member, it is very unlikely that you would be assigned a standard view room. These rooms cost less points and tend to book up very quickly by DVC members.

Even if your upcoming stay is a "points" stay, I'd say the chances of you getting a preferred/water view are excellent!

Enjoy the trip!

Thanks for the reply. I'm not renting points. I booked my ressies with CRO and am paying cash for the room.

We are going at the end of May using an AP rate at the BWV 1 bed. I have been debating about that location vs. CBR/CSR. If I knew for sure we would get a water view I would definately stay there. Is there a way to find out prior to the 5 day limit for refunds?

If you booked your room for cash through CRO, there is very little chance that you will be assigned to one of the standard view rooms, especially since so many are currently under rehab. Really! Of course it is remotely possible, but since the vast majority of the standard view rooms are in rehab and those standard views are the rooms that DVC members book first, the chances of a cash guest getting one of them is very, very small.

All of the preferred views have either a view of the Boardwalk/Crescent Lake, one of the pools (Luna Park or the quiet pool) or the canal between the BWV and the Swan/Dolphin Hotels. Of course some of the views are better than others, but that really comes down to personal preference. I like the higher floors best, but some swear by the ground floor pool views.

FWIW, many of the standard views have pretty good views of the EPCOT higher level fireworks. Some have a view of the TOT and can see portions of the Fantasmic fireworks. Unfortunately, most of those rooms are the ones now in rehab.

IMHO, any 1 bedroom at the BWV is far more desirable than the best room that CBR or CSR has to offer! Think fully equipped kitchen, two TVs - one with VCR, king sized bed, a jacuzzi tub plus a separate walk-in shower, and a washer/dryer right in the room. On top of that, you can walk (or boat) to two major parks. You're also in walking distance of many great restaurants and entertainment options. Obviously opinions vary, but no waterview from a standard hotel room can top all of the amenites that come with a BWV one bedroom! Can you tell I may be a bit biased??? :teeth:

Enjoy your trip - no matter where you decide to stay!
