Regular old plain food at WDW - A LIST

I just think that it's so subjective. One person's "plain" may be another person's "icky" "weird" "exotic?"

That's true, but perhaps "plain" is a bad choice of words. Maybe "traditional American" would be a better description. In any event, I'm talking about food that most people in middle class America grew up eating. Does that make more sense?;)

My mother, myself and my sister are somewhat adventurous with our food choices. My father, on the other hand, is a typical meat and potatoes kind of guy. I have eaten at about 90% of restaurants on WDW property (both parks and resorts). That being said, I would feel comfortable taking my father to most of the WDW restaurants, with a few exceptions.
Being a vegetarian myself, I am quite accustomed to asking for a meal without certain ingredients or making substitutions, and Disney is very accommodating. I would imagine they would be the same way for the "American meat and potatoes" eaters out there. Even Jiko, with its African menu, has a fillet with red wine reduction on top of macaroni and cheese. Certainly, it could be ordered without the red wine reduction, thereby making it more plain. I would not, however, take my father to Boma (even though he would find something to eat, there wouldn't be much) or somewhere like Teppan Edo as he does not like Japanese food.
So don't worry too much about finding food you will eat.

I have to throw in my $0.02 for the Trail's End restaurant at the Fort. Great food, there.

Great post :thumbsup2 We liked Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Hoop Dee Do.

We hated Boma. The only thing I liked there were the desserts and the coca cola pork. I even made it at home. I also liked gettting the chance to see the AKL, it is pretty impressive. But other than that, no thank you. Too "weird" for us.

You're not going to believe my suggestion, but:

Marrakesh in Morroco! I know it has very different foods, but the LEMON CHICKEN is delicious - just a juicy roasted chicken half. Simple flavoring, salt & pepper, and a hint of lemon.

It impressed me because it was so simple.

(But I also loved the beef rolls topped with sugar. LOL!)

That is VERY interesting. I would probably love that. Good to know, as Marrakesh was always on my "no way" list.:)

I think that some dishes have odd names but if you take a closer look you can usually find something. Also if the rest of your part is a bit more adventures you can make special requests at most table service resteraunts in Disney. You should also consider the resteraunts that specify barbeque, they ususaly have things like corn on the cob, chicken and steak, or hamburges. So if you want a dinner show there is Hoop De Do and Mickey Backyard Barbeque both at FW. Allso try Canada in the World Showcase at Epcot. If you look you can find them. My sister is the adventures one but my brother in law is not. They are DVC members and he never has a problem finding something he can and will eat.

Beaches and Cream:thumbsup2

I would suggest though, using a WDW trip as a chance to branch out a little. Even the more "adventurous" (if that's what you want to call it) choices at WDW are not over the top. (Although I consider myself an adventurous eater, so its all relative). Particularly if you are on the DDP, its a good chance to try something a little out of your comfort zone. The worst thing that will happen is you don't like it, but (again speaking of DDP), the next meal (or snack) is just around the corner...

I would suggest throwing a new place or 2 that you are not as sure about into the mix along with places offering more traditional faire.
