I admit, I am NOT an adventurous eater. If you look over most WDW menus, you will find alot of "unusual" combinations of foods, which to the adventurous eater, are like some sort of Utopia - but to people like me, are just, well, yuck.;)

So, for the plain eaters of the world, such as myself, I offer you my suggestions on TS places that offer "normal" food - sort of what I grew up eating and continue to enjoy. I have eaten at all of these personally and wasn't disappointed - feel free to add your suggestions too!:thumbsup2

50's Prime Time
Liberty Tree Tavern
The Plaza
Boatwright's
Concourse Steakhouse (sadly closing though)
Planet Hollywood
Le Cellier - a little pricier plain food, but nothing too weird there

Do you think Yacht Club Galley/Captain's Grill should be on that list? DS complained about all the "fru-fru" food at WDW and was relieved to discover this place-the only place he said he could get "real" food.

Thanks for the list. We are going in Nov. with my dad and he is extremely picky. Now I have a starting point on where to look and see if we can have at least one sit down dinner.

Count me in as a plain old food lover! I suffer from a huge food problem - I can't eat onions! They are in every last thing nowadays. It truly is a problem -onions hurt my stomach, and I gag on them if I accidently chew one. It really limits where I can eat. :( I also can't eat anything with weird chunk-like pieces, which includes garlic, huge spices like basil, tomato seeds, things like capurs, etc. Ick!

So when I am at Disney, I look for restaurants that serve "whole foods". I find Fultons Crab House a good one, as they serve crab legs just as is! And their potatoes were as plain as day. Beaches and Cream is another of my favorites, as a good old cheeseburger is easy on my system! Trail's End was another safe place with many choices for me. :)

Nice to see this thread - I know very few "plain food" lovers out there! Most people in my life make fun of "my pickiness" over food. They don't understand at all!

The thing about the menus at WDW is that many times the dishes sound much more complicated than they actually are. We regularly eat at Brown Derby, Coral Reef, Artist Point, Portobello Yacht Club, and Flying Fish. All of these restaurants have what I consider to be 'regular food'. You might have to request no onions or sauce on the side, but even my kids enjoy the food at these restaurants and they do not like 'fancy' food.

I am a "regular food" eater too! In fact, most places I go to eat, I can usually find only one or two things that I would actually eat. I know people on these boards rave about places like Boma, O'hana, etc. and as great as I'm sure they are, I would never, just because I am afraid I wouldn't find anything that I would eat.

I would add Sci-Fi to your list, as they have hamburgers and onion rings. YUM!

I love "regular food" as well. I think Kona, while having a nice selection for adventerous eaters, also caters to the "regular" eaters by having a selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast items. :)

Thank you!

I like Spoodles for their regular food, and Rainforest Cafe....

I'm going to miss the Concourse Steakhouse, but I've only eaten there about 3 times.

Garden Grove in the S&D is a pretty good casual place to eat.

I think you should add Grand Floridian Cafe to that list. We went there once and we haven't been back since. They have very "normal" food. We're more adventurous with our food.

Also, I agree very much with some of your other choices: 50's Prime Time, The Plaza and Liberty Tree.

As well, I agree with those who mentioned that most of the restaurants to offer both types of food. For instance, you can go to Coral Reef and order the steak or chicken dish which appears to be "normal", but at the same time they have the Mahi Mahi dish that is great, but not an ordinary dish.:) And you wouldn't want to miss the experience in this restaurant or any others.

I do like "fancy" food but thought I'd help you all out with your list. ;)

Try the Fountain at the Dolphin. They serve food like grilled cheese, hot dogs, burgers, macaroni & cheese, etc. My dd loves the grilled cheese.

GF cafe
Crystal palace
WCC
Sci fi

i dont eat seafood, salad, or most vegetables and have alwyas found good old plain food there for me

I think any of the breakfast buffets, counter service, or WCC would work for you. Those are all plain foods. :)

My husband likes plain food too, so I know where you are coming from. :)

I'd add Ohana. It is salad, bread, au gratin potatoes, and fire roasted meats(quite tasty ones too!). Okay, there was ginger on the broccoli and the dipping sauces were different.

I'm with you - I'm not super adventurous. I like:

Sunshine Seasons (great rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes)
Columbia Harbor House (tuna sandwich, fish and chips)
Le Cellier (great prime rib sandwich at lunch)
Fish and chips window at Epcot
Kona Cafe (wings and seafood chowder)
Crystal Palace (great breakfast buffet)

I was worried when making a reservation at California Grill -- everything looked a little exotic to me. But was very happy with their filet!

I just think that it's so subjective. One person's "plain" may be another person's "icky" "weird" "exotic?"

I totally agree! We eat at Le Cellier all the time and I think the food is great. I consider myself quite adventurous with my meal choices.
