Regular military tickets

My dad called today for military discount tickets. He was told that they're in the process of negotiating with Disney and they can't order until that's complete. Anyone know how long this typically takes? Our 60 day window is rapidly approaching.

Called who? You can order these tickets directly from your nearest base ITT office or call Shades of Green and order them there. You can only purchase the Salute tickets through Disney directly, but you can only buy them at the ticket booths at the parks, you can't get them in advance.

Well it depends on what you mean by "regular military tickets". The 4 or 5 day Salute tickets are available and current pricing is in effect until December. The MYM tickets may be unavailable due to WDW just recently raising their ticket prices, so Shades may have to adjust their prices also. The Stars and Stripes tickets may also be affected by the price change, but I'm not sure on those.

I know the Salute tickets are available since I just purchased them and they arrived yesterday--I ordered them after the WDW ticket price increases. If he wants those tickets, then have him call back. You can also email them to get the order forms advancedtickets@shadesofgreen.org

Just FYI, the tickets can take up to 2 weeks to arrive when you order them from Shades of Green or even your base ticket office, because most don't keep them in stock.

So, if your 60 day window is "rapidly approaching", you may not get the tickets in time regardless.

He doesn't qualify for military salute. He's a Vietnam vet who was honorably discharged.

Is he wanting the Salute tickets (4 or 5 day hoppers) or just regular Magic Your Way tickets?

Salute tickets were negotiated last September and they can be purchased now and for the rest of 2018 at the current price. Magic Your Way tickets are likely unavailable right now due to the ticket price increase from last week.

Clarify which type of tickets you are trying to order.

My uncle served 4 years, and was honorably discharged. But I seem to think you have to be active or retired from the military (20 years minimum) to be eligible for Disney Military Tickets? Am I right?

That's the armed forces salute. There is the regular military discount as well, it's somewhere between 4-8%

This is not true. You can get the Salute tickets at the ITT office at just about any base and you can order them in advance from Shades of Green. We had ours a good 3-4 months before our trip.

You misunderstood. I was saying that Disney ONLY sells the Salute tickets, not the other military discounted tickets.

AHHHHH....now that makes sense! Yeah, you can't get Salute tickets in advance FROM Disney; you can only get them FROM Disney at the ticket booth. I'm glad we cleared that up!
