We are going in Dec, and DD2 is just starting to use the pottie!! However, she is afraid of the automatic flushing ones that are all over WDW. Does anyone know where there is a listing of "regular" flush type potties???

If not, our pottie training days may go down the drain :rotfl2:

My suggestion, learned on the family board, is to put a sticky note over the red light. After she exits the stall, pull off the note and the toilet will flush. As long as the light is blocked, it will not flush. This is what I learned, anyway. Neither of my kids were scared of the flush. They are more the scientific type, esp. my son...now, if I stand over HERE, will it flush? How about HERE!!!

I suggest you go on over there. They will have more helpful advice than you can imagine! :flower:

I had to laugh when I read this. Many I time I have had to crowd into a stall with my DD5 and keep my hand over the sensor while she did her business. Have to say I have never thought of the sticky note idea, but I think it's pretty clever - I will definitely have to stick a pack in my bag! I think it is a better idea than trying to hit certain bathrooms.

I will say that I have noticed in some places that the toilets in the handicapped stalls will sometimes have a lever flush when the other stalls have the sensors... not sure if this is on purpose or what, but it may be worth checking.

Here's a second vote for the sticky notes! My daughter is terrified of the auto-flushers. I read the hint about the small size post-it notes on here and I now carry a pad of them in my purse. It makes like a lot easier than when I used to have to squeeze in there behind the toilet with her and cover the sensor!

There are some but I have never seen a list... Some of the countries in EPCOT are ones I remember. Good Luck and if you forget sticky notes just use your hand... worked for us.

Beware: If you happen to put the child on the toilets that have the hurricane flushes, you may flush and your kid may disappear. :rotfl:

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll head over to that thread and do a search.

the bathrooms just inside Epcot, beyond Spaceship Earth. I know they do not have automatic flushing because I remember thinking to myself..."Yes, this is the future at its best!"

Also, I think the restrooms in Columbia Harbor House (at least the second floor) at MK are self-serve too!

Good luck!

The toilets upstairs at Pizza Planet are also regular flush.

Ah yes...the newly potty trained and auto flushing johns...funny story (not really :worried: ) About 3 weeks ago I'm in Wally World (aka Wal Mart) and my newly trained DD asks to use the potty (o how they love to use any and every potty available once they get the hang of it  ). Anyhoo, she's afraid of the auto flushers so I held my hand over the light while she went. Note this very important point; I had my keys on my finger while I was doing this :sad2: . DD finishes and starts to get off, I'm afraid she'll fall on her face so I go to help....well...my....KEYS...drop....into the pot and are whisked away so quickly there was NO time to blink (I am *not* exagerating they really were gone in a second)!!!!! They are now gone forever to the lovely Sturbridge wastewater treatment plant with no hopes of getting them back ever! :scared1: ::yes::    :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

How embarrasing that I had to call DH at work to come rescue us princess:  because The AUTO FLUSHER ATE MY KEYS....

Both my DDs remind me tooo frequently of this occurrance :rotfl: :confused3 and IMHO I wouldn't put those auto flushers past flushing a small toddler-uh huh!

Sooooo with all this I think I'll go'n add some "yellow stickies" to my purse as a permanent fixture! Thanks for the tip!

Heather

If you don't pack post-it notes, stop by one of the DVC booths and ask for a couple of stickers - an excelent substitute.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. My 2yr-old daughter won't use public restrooms. Being over 1000 miles away from home hopefully she will learn she can't hold it in forever.

Speaking of losing items in the toilet. I had to page a co-worker once who was on break. She dropped it in and never saw it again :rotfl2:

I remember a WDW trip when I was younger, around 7 or 8. We were at Epcot, and I hade NEVER seen an automaticly flushing toilet before. My mom told me that they were taking a picture of my butt, and that if I wanted to go downstairs I could look at all the pictures and see if I could find mine. Talk about being traumatized!

A lot of the cast members that are greeters for stores/etc carry the round mickey stickers, and sometimes other characters. The first time you see a CM (even stop at any register and they most likely have them) and get a whole bunch. Use to stick over the sensor and pull up when finished.

No auto-flush toilets and the kids get to pick the sticker. It became a game for us on one visit.

My dd (4) is among the ranks of automated flushing toilets. I read about the stickies and it worked wonderful in disney. However in a pinch, and I need to do this too, a band-aid works equally well. By the way she also hates black seats so if it has a black seat she just won't use it. Children and toilets, there is nothing magical about that.

my eldest was the opposite... never met a toilet she didn't like and want to get "up close and personal "with no matter how foul!

Sounds like you have the problem under control with the sticky note idea, but if you are still looking for regular flush toilets, the bathroom at the Great Britain pavilion in Epcot isn't automatic.

If I remember correctly, at MGM you can find the non-automatic toilets in the bathrooms near Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
