Registering my complaint!!!

OP I liked your rant! My family agrees with you on the wand and the hat. The wand was awesome and the hat is awesome and we can't imagine MGM without it. Of course we are new school (first trip was in 2003). We also loved the changes to Pirates.:cool1:

I cant wait for them to finally build a country over at the "outpost" in epcot...I nominate myself as the "save the outpost" president......my platform will be....."where else can we as disney customers purchase overpriced diet cokes and spray fans that little kids use to torment their siblings".....this is unacceptable, of course I am speaking as a disney "purist" and all.

My first visit to WDW back in 1990 - Spaceship Earth became my favorite ride and continues to be the ride I look forward to each time I go back. Each visit when I see SE it brings me back to that very first time. COP is what it is supposed to be - a look back in time to a different world - yes, it could be updated at the end. Sometimes we all need to just look back at the world the way it was. There are so many other attractions at WDW - if you don't enjoy COP - don't go - but leave it there if only for the nostalgia of it all. Thanks for listening.

I don't really have an opinion about the wandhandstarsthing. My first trip was in 2000, and I didn't like the big sign thing then. I thought it looked weird, the hand/wand thing I think looked a little better.

I can't wait to see it naked in 23 days!

As far as the pictures goes, the first 3 or 4 were funny but by the time that 8th or 9th one got up I was thinking it was a bit tacky. One person's clever idea got blown out of proportion.

But that's of course not the topic of the thread. As far as the hat goes I think it would look much much better over by fantasmic, and not in the front of the GMR.

CoP is one of my favorite rides, and I'm by far and old person [no offense]. I also love SSE, and my breath was taken away the first time I realized a ride was in the ball.

With all this said, I still think everything is magical at WDW, even Stitch. :scared1:

Yes, I think its important for our kids to learn about history and how things have evolved to where they are now....COP did that, and Horizons (R.I.P. *sniff*) showed where the rest of that evolution could take us.

Honestly I only first saw COP a few months ago...I thought it was a good attraction, surprised at some of the effects that they used in the early scenes which probably haven't changed much since 1964 when it was first shown. To put yourself in that perspective as to how cool it was to those people back then is to realize what Walt accomplished.

For all of you people that are in love with CoP (gotta get my acronyms down)....It sure seems like you are an army of about 50 because every time i ride on the thing I feel like i could get up on stage and actually sing along, and know one would notice. The attendence rivals that of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays

IMO if they updated the ending and promoted the "new feature" like they do on so many other attractions, I think more people would check it out.

Im sure there's still a lot of people who have no idea what it is

Guess everyone has their own ideas of what is good and bad. I'll be sad when we go in November and Spaceship Earth will be naked. I LOVED the wand on Spaceship Earth, but also loved the "ride." IaSW has been one of my favorite rides since I was a little girl (first rode it at the New York World's Fair). I have to go on it every time we go. CoP is one of those great places to go when it is hot as hades and crowded everywhere else. Not a fav, but hey it is better than being miserable somewhere else.

a little off topic but back to the gold trimmings on the castle for HCOE....

i like to collect various signs and banners that used to hang around the parks and i was just thinking how much i would love to get my hands on one of those gold characters! I'm sure Disney wouldn't let anyone have those, but does anyone happen to know about how big those characters actually are? ill bet theyre big enough so that i wouldnt have anywhere to put one if i bought it!

Maybe they could put a 400 ft tall Mickey with a golf club?

FORE

Maybe someone should point out that the sphere is not a giant golf ball?? Although, I would like to see how big the Tiger Woods statue would be if it was going to be proportionate to the 'golf ball'

I proprsed a 400 foot tall Mickey with a long driver

As the guy who started all this....I say the following...

5) I still think a giant fixed statue of Tiger woods getting ready to tee off is the best way to handle the "largest geodesic, goesomething, spherical, circular, object in the world"......so does that mean that place that has the largest rubber band ball is a special place???......I mean if it where that impressive someone else would have built one, right....I mean I dont think there are many people wondering where the biggest golf ball in the world is located......My neighbor has the biggest gas grille in the western hemisphere. anyone wanna come take a look????

But never fear everybody......."It's a great big beutiful tommorow".......oh by the way.......I sing that every time i vote for kennedy!!!!

Sorry, the wand was ridiculous. I'm glad it's gone. It was trashy looking. Glad to see the original intent of Future World returning rather than cheap, gaudy, plastic adornments!

I HATED that they put that hand and wand on to Spaceship Earth. I thought it looked cheap. I'm glad Siemens had some sense to go back to the traditional look of the sphere. As for the ride in side, it holds a lot of nostalgia for me.

I can think of no better place to lodge my complaint, (because no one else cares)

Why in the world would disney think it is a good idea to remove the magic wand from the Epcot ball....they had finally found something that distinguished the sphere. It was well lit up and made for a landmark you could see from other parts of the park.....we are now left with what we started with...A golf ball sitting on a tee!!!

I hate it when these things get over thought....A bunch of disney fanatics resembling a group of star trek conventioneers complain about the sanctity of the worlds biggest golf ball that houses the worlds worst ride.....I got an idea, how about we get the PGA tour to sponsor that hideous ride and we can build a giant tiger woods satue above the ball and he can be preparing to tee-off!!!!

these are the same people that find a way to keep the "carousel of progress" open, instead of a ride or attraction born of this century. If i ever decide to throw myself off a bridge, I will be singing "its a great big beutiful tommorow" all the way down!!!....the one good thing is I continue to have a place to take a 20 minute nap in the middle of the day besides "its a small world".

I mean c'mon, clearly we need to remove the sorcerers hat from MGM because it wasn't there when the park opened....I mean we must return the sanctity of that completely barren space!!!!

well, just had to get that off my chest....I feel better now

:scared1: A Disney World fan with a complaint!!!!!????? :scared1:
Tell me it's not so !!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK...wasn't the "original intent" of future world supposed to be all of us flying around on monorails or jet cars while we worked some Ward Cleaver job in the great utopian society of tommorow......I guess will have to settle for a nice nap on spaceship earth, brought to you by AT'T, american express, fedex, Nestles, Coka Cola, (or insert evironment killing profiteer oil company here)....i am sure the original intent was to have a giant "Siemens" laser light show on the side of the golf ball...........(I'm really not taking shots at you, just rying to bring some humour and perspective)

I guess thats the problem with today's society, people no longer think there's going to be a positive future in store for us. "Dystopia" is the new future thinking, which is sad.

Thats probably why people were fine with letting all of the good, forward thinking attractions go for replacements like Test Track and Nemo.

Disney has used sponsors on their rides since opening day.

If you Had Wings (Eastern Airlines) just to name one.
